LSU DE Sam Montgomery on the prospect of Bama-LSU II: "I think the world wants a rematch, the media, the fans want it. It'd be lovely."

Zero chance. Only the gump fans want a rematch. LSU would have to beat Bama twice to win the BCSNC while Bama would have to beat LSU only once. No, I don't think so. :miles:

If Bama only drops to #4, a rematch could happen. If LSU finishes the season undefeated, risks its record in the SECCG, they deserve to play another undefeated conference winner, not a team with two fewer wins that they have already beaten once.

If either Stanford or OK State win out we face either one, with OK State probably getting the nod over Stanford if both win out. That much is pretty clear. If both lose and OU wins out then they'll be a great debate. Alabama or Oklahoma? I don't think Boise has a shot unless everyone but maybe one team has two losses. I actually believe Stanford wins out and LSU faces them in New Orleans.

It wasn't that many years ago that tOSU and Michigan had the "game of the century" follwed by all the chatter of a NCG rematch. Only to have both lose their bowl game. Oh, how the press can suck us in....

I wasn't for it when Oklahoma got in without winning their conference... and I wasn't too bubbly when they rematched Florida and Florida State (Ho-hum)...

The BCS already has a rule that only two teams from any conference can be in BCS bowls, but no rule that you have to win your conference to qualify for a championship game.

    Oddly enough.

I agree with this fully. A rematch sounds sexy and luring, but it is not what we really want. Additionally, to meet in a rematch, both teams would have had to win out, thus LSU would have won an extra SEC game in the SECCG, whereas Bama would have been home resting on their laurels. I think someone else who won their conference and conference CG would be a better choice than the sexy rematch possibility. I see a 1 loss Bama being rated above a 1 loss OU, though, so if others lose (Ok. St, and Stanford), then a rematch Bama is certainly a possibility, and probably more likely than Boise at that point.

No rematch. You don't give a team that missed a bunch of field goals, at home, a second chance. If the game would have been flawless, maybe so, but it was hardly a classic. Rematch is not happening.

If they are clearly number 2 at the end, I welcome it. However I think no way the rest of the country would accept it.

Oklahoma State's chances of losing to OU are not as much with the news that Broyles is out for the year with an ACL tear.
