One factor I think is the quality of quarterback play this year. You've got Tebow, Woodson, Flynn, Ainge, Stafford, and every so often Wilson. Combine this with the fact that there are some innovative offensive coordinators making the best use of these guys and you're going to have some high scoring games. I'm sure it's fun to watch as a neutral observer, but it's giving me heartburn.
This is one of the strangest seasons I've seen in a while. Every time I think nothing else could possibly happen to surprise me more than ______, well something does.
It's especially interesting given the general decline in offensive line play, as the more athletic big men go to the d-line early. Of course this is occurring at the college and pro level. I think coordinators are simply getting more creative, creating more scoring opportunities on both sides of the ball. This is through more innovative defensive schemes and better athletes providing improved field position. From there, the offensive schemes are getting more and more sophisticated leading to quick scores. Hence, points start to add up. I could be completely wrong, and this is all an anomaly.
Another great defensive diplay around the "Defensive conference" today. Miss St. vs. Arky 31-45 Vandy vs. Tenn 24-25 La Monroe putting up 21 on Bama Florida Atl scores 20 on Florida LSU vs. Ole Miss 34-24 and counting.
I hear ya but we still have some homers who like to say that. In all seriousness, we're still the fastest defenses imo. The best, to.
