The Big 12 lost Nebraska and Colorado, who have not been strong football programs in a while, and all of a sudden I feel like the Big 12 is a joke. In my opinion, they NEED to expand back to 12 teams... I have no clue who they would add, but that conference already had a reputation of being a weak conference with 12 schools.

If you were the Big 12 commissioner, what would you do?

Add TCU and Houston, move OU to the Big 12 North.

You don't think that would result in Oklahoma and Texas in the big 12 champ game every year?

i would resign. They are headed for more trouble.

Texas played all the cards right, getting to pursue its own television deal, forcing out Nebraska, ridding itself of having to play a Big 12 Championship Game. And like the old SWC and the old Big-12, Texas has shown that no other team matters in their league, not Oklahoma, not A&M, and who cares about Nebraska anymore. Discontent among those who have to keep puckering up for Texas will grow rapidly.

    Trouble will be brewing soon.

this new deal has a clause in it which basically locks the teams in for around 10 years - sounds, crazy, but that is what is being reported. There will be discontent for sure, especially amongst the 3 public Texas schools because they all feel inferior to UT. Baylor is happy to be along for the ride (I am a Baylor grad, so I say that with 100% confidence).

Colorado is no big loss...they never really fit and were not competitive. Nebraska has tradition, but outside that they were not really a top notch program in any sport during the last decade. The loss of the Lincoln TV market is minimal.

The biggest expansion target right now is BYU - not a huge TV market, but good in recent years in football and basketball. On a competition level it is equal to Nebraska in football, and better in basketball. TCU is also mentioned - again a football upgrade, baseball upgrade, but not in basketball. Also, Big 12 owns the Dallas market TCU occupies. Whatever is done, it will only be 1 team I think as they are not going to have a conference championship game.

When I was a kid, my dad would feed the cattle silage and corn. The pigs would follow around and eat the corn out of the cattle droppings. Pigs don't mind this, but at some point you would think university athletic departments might.
