I think you are both right. Stacey is right because Chavis did lose several games over the last few years because of the D he called. He also did leave LSU for a rival. However I do not blame him at all for leaving. He, IMO is leaving a sinking ship. He has been our best coach despite the losses and was not shown the due respect.
So if Chavis were to stay he be on the hot seat and NOT Miles? Hmm, so Chavis and his D showed drastic improvement through the season. The group improved in every facet. Granted the Bama game was given. Fact is Miles is the damn HC. Eventually he has to be held accountable to people like you and a few others. The O straight up is pathetic. You have a shot QB but Miles keeps sticking with him. While Harris may not be able to read the D as well his passing and confidence are much better. The team seems to believe in him more than AJ. Yet Miles has his mind made up, Harris was not even given a legit shot. You slam Chavis and all the OC's. Yet Miles is untouchable. Miles is the common denominator in all the recent issues. Since and including the BCSCG Miles nor LSU have been the same.Should he be fired no, of course not. I do feel though that the ship is sinking fast. I also feel that Miles has lost the team. I would gladly eat crow, but I do not see Miles fixing things. I think he and LSU would be better with a change of scenery.
I guess that makes me scorned as well. Thanks for the service but don't let the door hit you on the a$$ on the way out. Chavis is a good defensive coordinator and delivered some solid results during his tenure. So did others before him and so will others after him. He is replaceable and his position can be upgraded. There are others out there who are better and are closer to the peak of their careers. Here's to hoping we get the next hot talent and he awakens the Beast that is LSU D! (Note to Alleva: Please don't call Orgeron). As for Chavis ... he left to go to an SEC Western Division rival. Screw him. He's Tiger Bait. I hope A&M is in the market for another D-Coordinator in a couple of years after giving up 700 yards each year to the Tigers while our new D never allows them across mid-field. And that goes double for all the other teams across the SEC.
Of the Tigers ever get anywhere close to 700 yards it will mean that Les Miles is no longer the head coach
I tell you former Players and Coaches, would pass on a job offer from A&M. Some is Sumlin, but most is the higher ups. LSU and Les don't have that problem, look at the staff, where is the DB and TE's coaches from? Kevin Mawae interview for the OL job. Before that Blake Miller another LSU player interview for the OL job. There are things going on at A&M. Most can see what's going on by connecting the dots.
