Okay. I wasn't going to comment anymore about this topic( I know some of you are very sad). Someone said something about how there is no reason LSU can't rise above 8-9 wins when LSU has 2 national championships and a bunch of 10 win seasons over the last decade. All I was trying to say was, Nick Saban was responsible for some of those 10 win seasons and 1 championship. Therefore, they were not relevant in evaluating this team's potential. Before I get attacked for bringing up Saban, I was asked to explain a quote.
They were LSU's players, not Sabans. The players at Bama are Bamas players not Shula's players. If one is taking your position, Saban didn't have anything to do with the last two seasons at Bama - Shula did. I guess they should rehire Shula.
Okay. Let me try this again. I wasn't talking about Miles winning with Saban's players. I was simply stating that over the last decade Saban had 10 win seasons and a national championship and those seasons cannot be used to prove the potential of this team.
Neither can the last two seasons. There have been too many changes from those teams to this team. Things will continue to change.
But the first three seasons do? Changes such as what? I really don't understand the point you're trying to make here.
i know that others feel the same way, but i don't care if we lose to the alabamas and floridas of the conference as long as we win about as much as we lose PROVIDED that we see some competition. as bad as we were last season, we were VERY close to running the table. an offense somewhere in the top 50 (which isn't much to ask with the talent level at LSU) would have had LSU in serious talk for the national title. :tigereye:
That is the worst attitude I have ever heard. So it's okay if we lose to Florida and Bama every year as long as we have a .500 record and the games are competitive. So a 4-4 conference record with losses to Florida and Bama is okay with you?
Yes, but you do understand that adding Saban's record into the mix only diminishes LSU's past 10 years, right? And like I stated, that's even giving him a pass for his 1st year. --- FWIW, I agree with your last post about not being satisfied with .500 EVERY YEAR and losing to UA and UF EVERY YEAR...competitive or not. But that isn't the case. It's just the last two years. Saban had years like that too while he was here. Fair is fair. And again...not only in his first year here. He had bad years after he was established.
Nobody knows for sure what will happen in the next few years, but I do have a question for you. What if Bama and UF go on a significant win streak against us, say 5 games(add 3 yrs to current streak)? Grounds for firing?
