LSU is in unbelievably dire financial straits right now. Money will be a major factor IMO, independent AD or not.
aren't they meeting today with the satellite schools about all the cuts? I hear LSUA could potentially go under because of this.
There's simply too little money spread around too thin. Louisiana has about a dozen public universities, which is double what a state of this size and population needs. But nobody in the state legislature has the guts to propose defunding or merging the UL and LSU systems, everyone wants to protect their turf and reelection bids. LSU has been cut to the bone, so all that's left is program elimination. The Ag school is definitely on the chopping block, along with the library school (only 1 of 3 in the region) and several humanities courses.
Yep. Having two or three big backs that can slam the "D line trash" into submission is a good thing. That really sets the tone for a team.
Not that I don't agree that LSUA really is sorta irrelevant and that schools that are draining the LSU system really should be consolidated, but losing any of the schools from the LSU system isn't a "good" thing. People being put out of work isn't a "good" thing, the economic fallout in those communities isn't a "good" thing, vacant buildings won't be a "good" thing. Your comment is almost as inspiring as Reid's, "Today was a good day, only 36,000 Americans lost their jobs".
I'm sure no one will take it personal, we all say things without thinking sometimes. It takes a big person to admit their fault and accept constructive criticism. You've already done that. To me, it's all good.:thumb:
Well, LSUA is a big part of this community and it would be a blow to lose it. Just like LSUS and LSUE, if those communities lost their schools, it wouldn't be cool. Now........ If you told me, LSU would win a national championship in football every year if we demolished LSUA, show me where the bulldozer is because i can operate it.
