Not only what will it take for YOU to believe again, but for the TEAM? My thoughts...

What I'd like to feel is this...

Do you remember a time when, no matter who we were playing, no matter where, you were confident we'd win? I do. I remember times when I thought we were unbeatable...recently. I'd like to feel that again. I remember feeling it even after the AU game in '08...where we learned of JLee's uncanny knack of throwing the ball to the other team...and that team's inability to stop them from scoring on that play. We came back and won, and I thought we'd win every game from there on. I'd like to have that feeling back.

    What I'd like to see...

I'd like to see players playing with every fiber of their being. I'd like to see players playing with BAD intentions. I'd like to see them bring it every play like the game is on the line...the decision hanging on that very play...then doing it again the next play...regardless of the time in the game, or even the score. I'd like to see our team demoralize the opponent...not so much on the scoreboard...but just make the other team feel as though they have no chance whatsoever. Take away THEIR hearts!

My opinion of what it will take to get the team over the hump...and us fans...

This is what I think it's gonna take to get there. There have been times, even in the past two seasons, where a bounce here or there would've instilled that mentality in this team. (IMO) But things bounced the wrong way, and the team seemed to fold...to not believe in itself. Not saying they quit, although a case can be made for that in '08. But it seems they were the ones demoralized...often by themselves, rarely by the other team if ever. They MUST overcome that. I think they must win a big game...a game they aren't expected to win. They must beat a UF, Bama, or OM team. I include OM simply because it hasn't been done in two years. But for obvious reasons, it would be better if it was a UF or Bama team. Don't have to blow them out, but obviously, playing them close isn't enough. We must beat them. Let them know we're back. Let them know they just faced a winner. That's gotta happen this season. We've played Bama and UF close...close as anyone. But we MUST beat them. We beat one, I bet we beat the other.

    Your thoughts?

man i dont think it was lack of confidence and in 09 it wasn't lack of talent it was simply lack of clutchness. LSU was not much worse in 09 than in 07 06 05 and so forth we just never pulled it out in a clutch game

The players take on the attitude of the coaching staff. This "ho hum", just another game, attitude has to change. I want every game treated like it's the biggest game of their lives.
I don't want to here how. "we won and that's all that matters." It's about the process. If we are struggling against Vandy and U-La-La, then that is the time to figure out what isn't working and change it. Don't wait until after a loss to realize what we are doing isn't working. If we aren't dominating in-state teams, can we expect to beat Florida and Alabama? We need to set out to destroy teams.

Mike VI still hasn't made a peep yet, but he did hiss menacingly at Auby last year. We should expect something this season, or next, however:D

After years and years of completing the hail mary with 1 sec left, having our opponents miss that short field goal, or completing that fourth down pass against Alabama with the game on the line for a TD, the odds leveled out a little bit the past few years.

That's just how fate has it sometimes.

These guys still believe in themselves. With a new offensive staff and the same, solid defensive staff, I have no reason to think the team won't be winning lots of games in the immediate future.

    Well said.

It all starts with the coaches. If the same coaching is present this year, then i don't see anything changing. If it's the same ho-hum attitude as king mentioned, then we're in trouble.

Sean Payton changed his coaching and a Super Bowl followed. I hope Miles and the staff follow Payton's lead.

This +1,000,000. And this is something that the "Miles is still averaging 10 wins a season" crowd can't seem to pick up on. The combination of "we won and that's all that matters" and talent ensures that LSU will never be better than a 8-9 win, good but not great team. That's still a good record, but that won't put LSU in the upper echelon of the SEC with Bama and Florida, simple as that.

I think the word we're looking for is urgency. When you watch LSU play in the 1st half and even 3rd quarter, you don't get the feeling that there is a big push to extend drives and put points on the board. Instead you see a lack of focus, plays that take 30 seconds to get to the huddle, frequent mental mistakes and dumb penalties. The attitude seems to be "oh well, 3 and out. Guess the defense needs to do its job. Then we'll kick it into gear in the 4th." It's like watching an offense in slow motion that's afraid to stick it to an opposing defense. The team in general needs a nasty attitude, and I wonder a lot whether Miles is capable of fostering that kind of mentality in the locker room or on the practice field. Yes, we've had good and bad breaks, mostly bad over the last couple of years. Then there are the breaks you make for yourself. How many points off turnovers has LSU scored in the last couple of seasons?

Coaches can mature and grow just like players, so I hope Les is able to make the necessary adjustments to make LSU a dominant team again.

What I got watching the games is that very few of the players knew wtf to do on offense. It wasn't a lack of intensity, it was a lack of understanding. That is on Crowton. Either we have the dumbest players on the planet or he failed to tailor the offense to the players.

I am inclined to believe the latter.

The Saints created alot of turnovers and scored off them because they made their own breaks by being the aggressor.

If we do return to dominance again, Miles supporters will say we were wrong about Miles. No. If we get better, it will be because Les has grown as a coach. People say Saban made mistakes too. That's true. The reason he went 24-2 over the last 2 years is because he grew as a coach. I believe he learned alot from coaching the Dolphins.:geauxtige
