Go after a hotshot coach at a mid-major. We don't need a big splash name from a major school, we need a guy who can coach and think, not just recruit. There are a TON of good coaches out there who aren't named $aban or Meyer. Go after someone like Jeff Brohm, PJ Fleck, etc.

I'm cautiously optimistic about him, and want to see what he can do with personnel that actually fit his scheme, particularly up front.

    I'm not bashing Aranda.

I just want someone that's going to take us to the next level. not just "has to be better than what we got now".

Aranda may one day be a great college head coach. or he may be Will Muschamp.

Muschamp had Saban to make him look good.

Aranda is fighting a boxing match with both hands tied behind his back, having Miles as HC, and he still managed to make it to the final round while bloodying the other guy.

Yep, comparing Aranda and Muschamp is wrong on so many levels. That said, one of his strengths is supposedly adjusting to his talent, so we shouldn't have to wait for him to get his guys in.

I think Aranda was a great hire and think he's gonna live up to the hype as a DC.

I haven't seen close to enough of him yet to tout him as the next HC though.

I hope so. In my view we haven't seen enough of him to even know if he will be a good DC, let alone HC. We have only seen one game, against a team that should have scored two TD's early, and would have if they hadn't shot themselves in the foot. We didn't stop them. That team was starting a QB who hadn't started a game in 5 years.

We really don't know anything about our D at this point.

that's what I was trying to say, but because it doesn't for the shoot Les in the head immediately narrative it fell on deaf ears.

I agree it's time for Miles to go (said so last year as well). But that doesn't mean we can't discuss the rest of the team and staff as well.
