Miles got the same answer I found and what Tirk was saying about the replay. Scout.com: Miles: "Finish Strong"
That's what I thought. Either way once the flag wasn't thrown it was never going to get thrown. Just another hole in the replay system.
Some teams place a couple of big guys on the 40 for the onside kick receiving team and then place the hands guys behind that. At the kick, these blockers surge forward to break up the oncoming rush. This also keeps all the hands guys up front from fighting each other for the ball.
cant hit the receiver regardless where he is. check cannot review a play that results in a flag thrown afterward. check. i almost doubted myself. looks like i nailed it.
You can't hit a guy on receiving team until ball travels 10 yards. After 10 yds, it is a free ball. Doesn't matter if he moved into position to catch ball - still not suppose to be able to hit receiver. They reviewed to see if LSU touched the ball, not for the hit is what I was told.
The NCAA should really look into instituting some sort of no-fault solution in replay loopholes like that. For example, after replay, the referee can't throw a flag after the fact, but there's no reason they can't make a rule change allowing for a rekick if the replay official determines there was illegal contact.
