College Football Nation - ESPN 2. You know Nick Saban has done what Alabama hired him to do when Tim McGraw sings his new song, "Southern Voice," on the CMA Awards and mentions both Bear Bryant and a Crimson Tide T-shirt separately in the same song. Not that it’s been awhile since the Crimson Tide made that sort of impact, but Steely Dan released "Deacon Blues" on its album Aja in 1977. Omen alert? Alabama finished second that season and won the national championship in the following two years. I say its much ado about nothing. However, the fact that Mr. Faith Hill is from Louisiana and is singing about this crap pisses me off. Someone should mollywhop his a$$. I wonder how all his Tenn neighbors feel about it as well?
he should be ashamed of himself. he's obviosly gotten so big for his britches hes forgotten where hes from.:rolleye33: if he had any taste he would be singing about "the hat".
nooooooo..... this time its trace adkins. im on my way home a while ago, and i hear for the first time, a new single from trace adkins. the title is "ala-freakin'-bama. he mentions being a bear bryant fan. and then, when i hear d"roll tide roll" for like the 287th time in the song, i almost threw up on the thai take out i was bringing home for dinner. tim mcgraw, eh, no great loss. not a huge fan of his. but trace adkins? i may cry myself to sleep tonight.:bncry:
i mean what like 1 out of 8 La people listen to country while probably 98% of the state of alabama listens to it. he's just pandering to his audience. spoiler alert: i don't like country
problem is, they are both supposedly louisiana boys. well, north louisiana, and adkins went to school at la tech, so i guess its debatable. :dis:
Where did you get the line "They call Alabama the Crimson Tide/Call me Deacon Blues"? Walter and I had been working on that song at a house in Malibu. I played him that line, and he said, "You mean it's like, 'They call these cracker @ssholes this grandiose name like the Crimson Tide, and I'm this loser, so they call me this other grandiose name, Deacon Blues?' " And I said, "Yeah!" He said, "Cool! Let's finish it!" Donald Fagen Gets Inspired: Donald Fagen : Rolling Stone
Hey Tim, now that you're a Bama fan maybe you should take the advice of your own song "Louisiana" LOUISIANA Maybe it was a dream last night Or looking into my daughter's eyes But my heart was sinking Yeah, man, it got me thinking About all of my yesterdays Every minute, every page of my innocence Wishing I could go back when I was wild and free as the Mississippi Playing in the sugar cane A part of me is gone I don't know when it slipped away I guess I left it in Louisiana Blowing in the wind Hiding in the quarter Gotta get back there again To the sweet sounds of the bayou Let it wash right over me Make me whole again Bring back that missing piece That I left in Louisiana Well, I still feel the same But the mirror tells me that I've changed Every morning it's like a subtle warning It comes on like a delta rain Soaks through my skin down to my vein And it leaves me breathless And a little restless Reminding me that life is so fragile Like a thin sheet of a glass The moment you're living right now Will soon become your past And I left it in Louisiana Blowing in the wind Hiding in the quarter Gotta get back there again To the sweet sounds of the bayou Let it wash right over me Make me whole again Bring back that missing piece That I left in Louisiana But every night I close my eyes And I go walking under that magnolia sky That I left it in Louisiana Blowing in the wind Hiding in the quarter Gotta get back there again To the sweet sounds of the bayou Let it wash right over me Make me whole again Bring back that missing piece That I left in Louisiana Louisiana
I turn the radio when that song comes on. Aggravates me to no end. I can't believe he was born and raised in Louisiana and would sing about Bama.
