I don't see Taylor developing into more than a fifth rounder. He's a solid prospect all-around, but not spectacular.
I think Dickson will be a stud (but that won't suprise the country). I hate to go with the popular pick, but I have to agree with the Richard Murphy pick. It doesn't seem like some of you know this, but Richard Murphy is a virtual unknown to fans other than LSU fans. He, much like the rest of our backfield, will have a phenomenal season.
Jarrett Lee will open everyone's eyes as to how poised a QB he will be in leading this great LSU team in 08. He will manage games quite effectively in much the same way Matt Flynn did in 07. Murphy will be our most productive all around back and Scott will disappoint many. Patrick Johnson will burst on the scene and start at CB for much of the 2nd half of the season. Jai Eugene will also surprise many as to how improved he has become. Chad Jones will take over for Harry Coleman and surprise a lot of people (Jones stepping up and Coleman not being as effective as most had hoped).
I am not in any way taking a shot at you. But why do you think that? We haven't seen much of anything out of either Coleman or Jones, so why do you favor Chad over Harry? Again, not calling you out or anything. Just want to hear your input.
Scott will have a monster year and will score a ton of TDs. Yes, I like Murphy too but he will get the fewest carries out of the bunch, maybe next year. Lafell will also have a big year which inturn will give Byrd more chances deep. Toliver has another year to learn so I expect big things from him as well. I think the WR's as a whole will be better. Both QB's will be a surprise. I think Lee will eventually win out but it will be close, could go either way. Chad Jone will lead the team in tackles and big plays could end up being the MVP of the defense. Both corners will be good and atleast they have some speed for a change. I don't think either line will "surprise" anyone, everyone already knows they will be good!
I think Jai will disappoint anyone expecting him to be very good. I don't think he holds onto his starting position. I also think Toliver (one L guys - the incoming freshman WR's name is Tolliver) will dissapoint people by not being our #3 WR. My guess is that Jared Mitchell surprises & takes that spot.
how exactly, did he make it up, with a check swing grounder that should have been a double play? very few baseball flaws? he looked like a fish out of water at the plate. i have never seen one person half swing more in my entire life, playing baseball, coaching, or umping. he made one really good play in the UCI series, i will give him credit for that. i have seen him misplay balls off the wall, lose them in the lights, and let balls get by him in left field. the reason im comparing, is because he is over hyped in BOTH sports. He cant catch a football, or field a punt, and he is a lackluster baseball player, who has nothing but speed. i will probably get roasted for this but its an opinionated message board so who cares.
I know some of you guys get inside info that us outsiders don't get, but what makes you think Toliver will regress? I thought he showed at times the he could be a great player for us last year. I figured with one more year under his belt he would get alot more playing time since after the 2nd reciever it's pretty much anyones spot. I know alot of ya'll are high on Jared but he hasn't looked that good to me since he's been here. Byrd has only been here one year and was a better reciever. I really hope Jared does break out this year.
The hit up the middle to get on base so Dean could swing him home for the winning run was satisfying for me. I would say that made up for missing the ball in the lights, IMO. Think he has his flaws and you are going a little overboard in how bad he is in baseball.
Toliver struggled through the Spring & still doesn't know the playbook. He's got the talent but he'll have a limited role until he learns the position. I really don't know who the #3 WR is going to be. I just figured Jared's as good a guess as any.
