And to think I even had the foolish notion that Shepard might be able to pull in some Texas folk. tsk, tsk....
we don't need to worry if their instate or out of state. we need to take the better prospect and that is what miles is doing. winning takes care of everything.:LSU231:
:geaux::crystal::helmet: I would say that the in-state kids might want to get off their duffs and commit while the spots are available. Sometimes, sitting around and enjoying all the hype and attention can work against them. Having said that, I would hope and think that the coaching staff would keep spots open for kids like Davenport and Randle. It would almost be criminal not to get kids like those. I don't think it will get to that point though. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Now that Pratt has given his verbal. Do we go after Lipscomb now? What about Montrell Conner? Do we offer as a LB?
Its strange to me also.. I hear on here from time to time that our coaches are great judges of talent & they are also able to "coach a 3* up to the level he needs to be.. This all kinda started with the Conner kid.. no doubt some feelings have been hurt with that deal. I personally think that if things are equal we take the Louisiana kid.. Last year we didn't have much luck on big star players from out of state but this year seems there are a lot of them that are really interested in LSU.. I always felt that Louisiana Kids would play harder for LSU but thats just bias thinking I guess... If the coaches think they can get a better recruit from out of state I will have to go with their judgement but I darn sure hate to see Louisiana kids going to USC, Alabama, Auburn & Tenn. I remember the days when Nebraska, Colorado & Michigan got a lot of them & always won more games than we did..
Two different things here, our coaches recognize talent- a three star can be a three that's underrated or underrecognized from lack of camps, etc; however, even a 4 or 5 star player needs "Coaching up" to make the transition. :thumb:
Lipscomb doesn't have the grades. Conner could get an offer once we work him at LB in summer camp, but I wouldn't expect it due to the other LBs we have on our board.
Spots will be held open for all the Louisiana guys we really want, and regardless of when they commit, they will eventually be Tigers.
