thank you, thank you and thank you this is no ordinary 18 year old coming to LSU my friends he's way ahead of the game
CB is very difficult to learn and he wont be able to step in and be comfortable with all packages. He may be great, but not from day one, which is why we will struggle back there for a while. Athleticism can help you in most positions when you aren't mentally ready, but not CB.
Let's come back to this thread after the season is over and see what transpires. No doubt it's the hardest position on the field to start as a true freshman. But this kid has enrolled in the spring to do just that. Here is what he had to say regarding enrolling for the spring semester: "Another big thing is that I am going to get to come in the spring and compete for immediate playing time. That is why I am doing it."
This is the hardest position on the field to start as a 5th year senior. Nothing in the game is harder than being a cover corner in an agressive defense. You and the guy in front of you, one on one. He knows where he's going, you don't. He is as fast as you or faster, you have to think faster and react even faster. A half step makes you the loser. When you mess up eveyone knows because it usually results in a long chase. You have almost the same pressures as a quarterback, except that the quarterback knows where the ball is going, you don't, but you have to beat it there to win.
Patrick Johnson has unbelievable recovery speed. Dude is 3rd best player in the nation on rivals. The next best pure DB listed is 39th (Will Hill is projected to be a safety at Florida). Eric Berry was listed as 3rd overall last year and he made the All-American freshman team (he also had the only pick of Perrilloux in the CG). Patrick Johnson will be special.
