Honestly I came up with a tie Highsmith and Hestor. I gave a lot of thought to Dorsey and obviously he comes close, but replacing quality LBs is a tougher task. Jacob Hestor I believe, was the heart and soul of this team. We have quality RBs, but who will lower their head and get two yards when you need it, with his kind of power? :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
We have had solid corner play for 5 or so years. Being vulnerable there is something our fans have forgotten about, but it makes a huge difference. Losing two senior CB's will be a big hole.
I'd have to say Sabanfan. Yeah, the old guy can be annoying as hell, and sometimes gets irrate, but like the creepy old feller next door, he's one of those Senior Citizens who has just kinda always been there and it would be weird if he disappeared.
I've given this a lot of thought. I believe with our talent we can replace any position. The key is our team remaining hungry. I believe our Head Coach knows how to do this. He's from the "Bo" mold and wants all his players to succeed in football and getting a quality education. I just see us retooling each year under :milesmic:.
Jacob Hester will be the hardest to replace. Not just for his on field talent, but for his leadership. Dorsey a very close second, especially on the leadership issue. These men were the heart of the 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPION LSU TIGERS! :crystal::crystal: :champs::champs::champs::champs::champs::champs::champs::champs::champs::champs::champs:
Chevis Jackson without a doubt. He is one of the best lockdown corners in CFB. Doesn't get a whole lot of credit and rarely gets out of position. The corners we have coming back have three worlds to cross to get on his level.
Hester and Dorsey for their leadership, but on the field, I tend to agree with Chevis too. Jai Eugene hasn't exactly been lights out in the limited time I've seen him play. Hopefully, all he needs is more playing time and experience.
I would say Jackson, but I firmly believe we will replace him with another lockdown corner in Patrick Johnson, an immediate impact starter as a true freshman. I would also say Dorsey, but RJ Francois will be almost as a destructive defensive lineman next year. Highsmith is a problem, but with Beckwith in the middle (and probably that much better as a senior), I don't think our linebacking corps will decline all that much. Therefore, I pick Hester. He single-handedly help us beat our toughest opponent of the year, the Florida Gators. He was the reason we went 13 for 16 in fourth down conversions. Look no further than the 4th down play vs Kentucky in which Hester got hurt and we had to go with Scott instead and he fell in a heap and didn't make the first down. He will be the toughest to replace.
I vote Dorsey. A special player and leader who only comes around once in a great while. Kirk Barton said Dorsey was one of the most impressive players he's ever seen. I agree. If Dorsey had been healthy the entire year he probably would have been a serious candidate for the "H". He will be in the NFL Hall of Fame one day.
