I still think Saban and Kiffen are douchebags and want neither near this program. In terms of firing 10+ win coaches, what about Tressel, Frank Solich, etc.,? There is a saying in sales: "Everything is funny when you're out making money." A good replacement for Miles could and should start winning right away. Which optics are worse: firing a 10+ win per season coach, or keeping one that is so predictable that any decent coach can beat? We used to bemoan "3rd & Chavis", not sure that is any better at all than "2nd & Miles": just stack the box and force a passing 3rd down situation.
I don't know that coaches are looking at Miles' coaches teams and really scratching their heads at why he'd be losing his job. Let's be real here, you know all the SEC coaches want him to stay so he would be a non-factor in the conference.
The whole 10 wins per season or 9 wins a season doesn't mean shit when the last 5 seasons have seen a consistent slide deeper into the depths of mediocrity, and 8 of the 12 seasons have seen an offense that is ranks near the bottom in the whole country.
So now he has been done in by the administration. Watch out for those black helicopters. Tell Alex Jones I send my best. Most feared Coach. Bwaaaa has haaa
The whole Chavis issue was just simply Chavis tired of having to bail out Miles year in and year out. He wanted more money to stay, he didn't get it, so he left for a rival job where he saw the ability to play for more than a mid tier bowl. Can't blame him. You can only protect a guy making much more then you for so long before you say fuck it, I'm out.
He was a 10 win coach. Won 10 games the year he got fired. Of course most people didn't even see that because all the drama was on Les Miles and LSU carrying him off the field.
Technically speaking, Miles didn't roll into the '07 NC. The stars had to align and the LA voodoo docs had to mix up a potent spell, as all the teams ahead of LSU lost their final games. It was a perfect storm that Miles just happened to be the benefactor of.
Besides, like always, nobody is disputing or complaining about Miles history. It's today's version and product we no longer want. It's business.
