I really like Lee between the 10s and on 3rd/long. I actually like seeing Jefferson come in closer to the goal line though. With TT on one side and RR on the other though.. can you stop the fade to both sides consistently like that? That's just unreal. Between Deangelo Peterson and Shepard .. we need to go Texas Tech on people, especially Bama. I also am torn between feeding Ridley.. damn, this season has been fun. I missed LSU football :hihi:
Les put a lot of faith in lee. If lee would have thrown an int then game over. Les also knew what kind of player Jefferson is when the clock is a factor (ole piss and tenn). It was trust jj to freak out and blow it or trust the harvard kid with the int prone past. Les may have seen that lee has got over the int problems enough to be trusted. You can coach a player not to make repeated mistakes but you can't coach intelligence. You can teach a player but when the pressure is own you find out if the really understand. I think lee has always had the intelligence to be a sec qb and his skills have finally caught up. Jj has always had the skills physically to play qb but implodes when he has to think for himself
Both Jefferson and Lee get the calls from the sidelines. This includes the 2 minute drill. Both Jefferson and Lee have shown the ability to make pre-snap 'reads' and call the correct audibles as well. I think what you're seeing here is just the difference in confidence.. that and experience.
"i want jl to get the first half vs ut. he's been around a little longer and the pass protection and running game are better---maybe jl will click." post #95 http://forums.tigerfan.com/tigers-den/101881-seriously-do-we-have-real-reason-why-lee-doesnt-play-5.html i agree, but sacks are better than pick 6es, thats all im sayin. if jl cant handle the zone blitz that saban will throw at him then jj will be the better play (recent performance not withstanding). if things have clicked with jl, then this team should do no worse that 1 L.
We're 6-0, and the offense has improved in the last couple of games. Therefore I'm going to trust the coaches at this point to know how to handle the QB situation. Plus, if Miles IS going to start Lee, or let Lee play the whole game, do you REALLY want McNeese State to know about this far in advance of this Saturday's game???
I agree with bmy Inside the red zone you could split wide TT and RR. You force the safeties to cheat and help the corner on the fade routes. When that happens the TE comes open on the hot route up the middle. If the linebacker stays back to play the TE, he can not come up to stop Ridley. Crowton's job seems easy:lol: Just kidding. But really we should be unstoppable in the Red zone if the QB can throw a fade/back shoulder pass.
I don't mind seeing JJ closer to the goal, but I don't think he should be exclusive. The Pass play to TT would not have happened if JJ would have been in. IN FACT .. I'm sure TT is fricken giggly about having Lee, because Lee actually throws him the ball. The scenario you put up of TT on one side and RR on the other is a Jarret Lee play, not a JJ play. I stick to my original position .... Lee does the drives, and "sometimes" you bring in JJ for a few downs.
Yeah, except RP could run the option like nobody's business. Took a much sharper turn to the inside, whereas JJ just runs parallel with the LOS and allows the defense to catch up to him.
Good point...I think JJ lost that sharp turn when he rolled his ankle last season. He really hasnt run the same way since. I even saw a VERY slight favor on that ankle on that 83 yard run vs Tenn
