no im pretty sure you said playing jj was the correct thing to do and you agreed with starting him if i recall. of course we do. that was noted before the game. still doesnt mean he shouldnt start or get the majority of the snaps. JL didnt cave in the swamp like you and I thought. I thought he should start there regardless. he needs to work out his issues on the field. not the bench. its way past time for that. playing scared gets you nowhere near atlanta. les needs to let this dude loose. win or lose.
:geaux: Alabama will bring it, but I haven't seen or heard anything that makes the Ar-kansas "D" very scary. :LSU231:
I think everyone has said they have concerns for our QB situation even with JLee there. That's why we want him to get the large majority of the snaps starting in the McNeese game so he can work out some of the mistakes he's going to make. As far as handling pressure, I think JLee has already shown he can handle it pretty good. The 1 INT he's thrown was a pretty big one, the fade pass to Ridley in the endzone, which took away a score. But he fought back and made at least 2 clutch passes on the final drive in the same game. He also, I thought, handled the pressure of the last drive in the Florida game really well. And even scored the game winning TD on the Fade pass that he had an INT on in the last game. Certainly there's more pressure to come, and some of the time JLee WILL mess up. Every QB does. But that's more the reason to give him as many snaps as we can before the next series of big games.
I often wonder how far he will take his loyalty. It almost seems to me with GC that he is willing to go down with the ship. I would have cut the weak link a long time ago. His offensive line is another example. He kept Stud around who has proven he cannot coach up this talent he has on the line. We were not very good on the line last year. I know we are moving in the right direction now but we have seen a lot of talent on the line play just average. I know Miles owes us no explanation (only the school) but he seems stick with below average performance (his coaches) way too long. I really think he is good for the program in his recruiting and keeping his players happy to play for him, but he needs a bunch of Chavis' under him. Oh, and also one Flava Flav for clock management!:rofl::rofl:
Mid-season replacements are to be avoided except in direst emergency. 6-0 and in the BCS top-10 allows us to not panic prematurely. I have been critical of Studrawa the past two seasons, but this year has been a complete turnaround. It's a far better than average offensive line that has opened holes for the running game and protected the quarterback. Studs big uglies are far less of an issue than Crowton's quarterbacks to me.
Have to agree with you Red about the Oline. Interesting stats I found on another board with T-bob stepping up big time.
And all of this is CLM's way of showing confidence in Lee. Maybe he doesn't need to start him to show confidence in Lee. Heck, to call that fade two times in a row like that with the game on the line after last week's fade INT sure showed me that Les has started to trust Lee a LOT more. He has earned it through his play! Great job by Lee! Remember Hookfin! Redemption is a wonderful thing and makes college football special. And I think that JJ didn't have a horrible game either. Not quite back to last years steadiness, but not bad. At least one of them is stepping up and the other is not imploding!!! Good news!
I have also been critical of T-Bob last year. He was a good position blocker who knew the plays and the blocking angles, but he just got pushed around too much by 300-pound defensive linemen. I don't know if it was the Big Cat Drill or being passed by Lonergan, but Hebert has stepped it up physically to a new level.
Yeah, I watched the UNC games a couple of times and one time I watched T-bob on every snap. He looked very good in that game and his man was very rarely in on the tackle. Of course, they may have needed to have him in double teams and such to help him, I don't know, but he looked OK. I know a lot of people were down on him, but I am glad to see him step up and redeem himself as well.
