All of this shows why this system should be scrapped and have actual playoff games such as a 4 game format. I mean C'mon, Some of the things I have read in these threads such as no oversight of those working the computers or some voters. This all sounds like rigged politics, elections, etc.
Apologies if I'm missing something. Is the reason for no Big 12 title game because of the two teams that left the conference? If so, why couldn't the Big 12 still figure out a way to have a title game? :geauxtige
Just NCAA rules. By rule you must have 12 teams in a conference, and split them into 2 divisions, to have a title game. Texas and Oklahoma aren't really interested in a title game, as they prefer to have as few teams that can beat them on schedule as possible. I suppose this year might change their minds somewhat, but then they have the brand names that make it acceptable to vote for them.
Oklahoma State beat Baylor earlier in the year, so wouldn't that have been a wash either way? They would have gotten more points from this weekend's win, but their score would have been lower going in. I can't understand how anyone could rank Stanford, who recently got run off their own field by Oregon, ahead of Oklahoma State. LSU would obliterate Stanford.
Texas and Oklahoma have the most to gain by not having to play a title game. By having an automatic bid to a bcs bowl they get off easier not having to play an additional game. That was the old mindset. Maybe they will want one now. Who knows. I do believe this, if ok was to switch places with okie state, ok wouldve gotten the votes okie state did not.
