I hope you guys are right. While the plan against WVU worked in the end, it was very frustrating to watch.
This made think of when the Ole Miss running back saw Mingo and turned to run the other way. I was LOL. No dude, you won't outrun him, 10 yard loss.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching that game...from row 36 in Milan Puskar Stadium. It was pretty cool when the fog took over in the early 4th quarter.
I'm a tad bit concerned that the pigs might burn us a few times when we blitz. It won't be nearly enough for them though, because they won't be able to stop our ground game.
Don't worry. Karnell Hatcher will not be trying to cover receivers this year. Hopefully, he won't even see the field. We'll be fine.
In the past we have had major breakdowns against them. We are deeper now at secondary, and we intercept passes better. When you add the speed to the QB, I just don't see it happening this year. Remember, on passes over 20 yards, we have intercepted more (7), than our opponents have caught (5).
You beat me to it. I won't say he is the reason we lost the game, but he is certainly the reason we lost the way we did. Put a healthy Brandon Taylor in that game and we win. My only worry is a repeat with injured safeties. Not having Reid back there for a full game will hurt some. Hopefully he's been coaching his backups this week. Hard to teach instinct though. Reid has it by the bargeload. I think it makes sense to put TM7 back there a good bit and let Brooks handle most of the blitzing. It's clear Brooks is just as proficient at that as TM7. And TM7 is just as instinctual as Reid. I don't want to see Loston pull a Hatcher trying to take someone's head off. Those receivers are too fast to miss tackles and they not take advantage. Very fast. This is our secondary's biggest challenge. But Wilson doesn't like getting hit so you've got to apply pressure.
