LSU Tigers: The Defense That Went to Fat Camp - WSJ.com

Some of the info in the article is nothing new but it does detail the commitment, back in September 2010, by the coaching staff and players to prepare for that game. Looking at what Oregon is doing to everyone right now underscores the creativity of Miles, Chavis, and Moffitt. They created a fast and strong defense to beat O and it is paying off every Saturday since. LSU stays one step ahead of the game. I love it!

I'm imagining Tommy Moffitt sitting down with four wide-eyed wet behind the ears freshmen in Montgomery, Mingo, Brockers and Logan and saying,"fellas, I'm going to create a defensive lineman like college football has never seen, and you guys are it."

    Great article.

So the WSJ has published all of our secrets in a newspaper? NOOOO !!!!

But seriously, this is a great article and a real compliment for our program, coaches and players.

Tommy is a Gayle Hatch Disciple and Hatch is a Alvin Roy Disciple...

Alvin Roy had trained Hatch as an athlete along with other noted athletes such as 1958 Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon, Green Bay Packer's Hall of Fame fullback Jimmy Taylor, and all-time professional basketball great Bob Pettit.

He was also professional football's first full-time strength coach. He installed the first comprehensive, year-round strength program for the San Diego Chargers. As a result, the Chargers went on to win the World Championship...

So, do we begin a weight gain process 2 weeks before Bama? I say we stick what works.

I watched part of that Ore-Cal game last night. These guys look like flyweights out there. The reason Oregon lost to LSU and Auburn is because of size. The SEC schools have the size AND the speed. The west coast schools have the speed, but not the size. Both Auburn and LSU simply wore down Oregon as the game progressed. Watching the Pac-12 right now, reminds me a lot of watching the WAC.

THIS. I watched the game as well and couldn't believe how small their D-line looked. Seriously, they could have all passed for tight ends. For some odd reason I didn't think they looked that small when we played them. Even the DB's were very thin. Quick but thin. They are a fine team but the weaknesses are obvious. Felt bad for James. Hope he is ok. That injury was hard to watch.
