What is your favorite NFL football team?

On this very large New Orleans Saints internet forum, I recently saw this recent poll that showed that only about 66% of those Saints fanatics were also fans of LSU! football. The other 33% of the Saint fanatics on that site had a favorite college football team that wasn't LSU! (and they discussed why in that thread).

So I am curious, which NFL football team is your favorite and why?

Dallas Cowboys.

I always liked the Saints as a kid when the stunk and their fans were quiet.

But once the Katrina season hit and Saints fans actually started to open their mouths a little bit, I developed disdain.

I am not talking about anyone here.

But being a Cowboy fan, I never ran my mouth to Saints fans when we are better than the Saints (virtually every season in the history of the NFL), so why do I get 24/7 crap from Saints the one year they play well?

 

Not a big NFL fan (or any other pro sports not called Major League Baseball).
I do hope the Saints are successful since they're the home town team, but not much more than that for them. I do follow my fantasy team pretty close though.

 

If you want an honest answer to that one from my perspective, it's because of the arrogance of Cowboy fans (not necessarily you) the rest of the time. It's really no different than Alabama or Notre Dame, when you put up with arrogance from a fanbase for so long, you want to stick it to them when you get the chance. Saints fans took that opportunity when it came.

I have a particular disdain for the Cowboys because of how much they directly compete with the Saints for market share in Louisiana. Shreveport has way more Dallas fans than Saints fans, so that always rubbed me the wrong way. I always feel like it's kind of selling out to root against your home state team. JMO.

 

I was born in baton rouge and LSU is where my parents met, but we moved to KC when I was a kid, hence my allegiance to the KC chiefs. They raised me to be an LSU fan, but let me choose my NFL team, and I went local. Having Bowe, Dorsey, and Niswanger is just a bonus of being a LSU fan and a chiefs fan.

 

I was a cowboy fan when i was a kid. But I have grown to hate them as i got older. I hate Jerry Jones. I hated how he screwed Tom Landry. I completely hate the fact that TO is on that team, or any team for that reason. And now all the pacman crap -- pacman should be in prison not on the football field.

All that being said, i really enjoyed the Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin years.

 

A lot of people feel that way. No one has ever been able to tell me what Jerry did do or should have done dramatically differently. So I will ask you the same question...Jerry fired Tom when the Cowboys were very bad. Jerry had dinner at Mia's with Jimmy before he fired Tom. So everyone knew that Coach Landry was going to be fired before he actually was. (Think of how many times this has occurred since then.) But what did Jerry do to deserve your dislike regarding Landry?

Now, full disclosure...
I was extremely mad at Jerry when he let Jimmy go and hired Switzer. It has taken me years to get over that. As a owner / GM, he has made mistakes. But I can't think of an owner / GM that hasn't. And over the years, I have grown to like Jerry(warts and all) because he is obsessed with winning. I like that the owner of my NFL team cares about this more than anything else. Not crazy about the current influx of convicts though.

 

Jerry Jones = 3 rings.

Every other Cowboys owner = 2 rings.

Find me a crime PacMan has been convicted of.

And find me a crime T.O. has committed to warrant a permanent banning from the NFL.
