I think this Miss state game opened their eyes. I mean, to be inches from having your season thrown in your face and to step up not once, but four times...... Heart...
To the rest of the SEC it will not change much. Not many teams are expected to win in Athens. If the team looks absolutely horrible - then that is a different story, but I dont think we'll pull an Ole Miss. There are three games we need to win (for image purposes): Arkansas, Auburn, and Ole Miss.
It happened last year with the loss to Florida. We lost 4 out of the next 7 games and needed the largest comeback in school history to beat Troy.
For the short term this is a HUGE game. A win keeps us at #4, and unbeaten. Even if it's an "ugly" win. A loss knocks out of the top 10 and everyone's gonna say "I told you so". Looking at the big picture, we only have to win 1 of these next 2 games. We can still get to Atlanta if we lose to Georgia OR Florida, but no way we'll win the West if we lose to both. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
That's nice logic, but if you can't beat a mediocre Georgia team on the road, how in the heck do you beat the best team in the country the very next week? A Georgia loss almost guarantees a loss to Florida, based on the fact that we have not improved didley since game 1.
If Georgia win's this game easily I think this season will go downhill in a hurry and be much like last year and maybe worse.
I hope we dont play conservative and continue to do things that dont work. My ideal scenerio for this game is to strike early and often. First play from scrimmage go for it all. We have to just let loose this game and try to take their crowd out of it from the jump. Their defense its not all that great, I say we go for their throats early. On defense we have to take chances to make plays, last week we were gashed up the middle, this needs to be shored up this week, by letting the linebackers play and continue to blitz. If we are successful in pressuring their QB, we will have a good day.
