I'm not defending anything. Only trying to splain it as I understand it. Hell, I was hoping someone with more knowledge would elaborate for me to learn.
This strictly my opinion, so take it for what it's worth. In most offensive formations, on the line of scrimmage you have the center, 2 guards, 2 tackles, the TE and 1 WR. The four players in the backfield can be a wide variety of combinations.
I wasn't going say it but a player can be "on" his team's line of scrimmage without literally touching that plane.
In that formation the TE, WR would be eligible receivers, as would all the backs since they're not on the LOS. Sooo, what happens when you see Trips left?
I don't watch NFL so you may have to explain that one to me. And next time you go play golf with SF I wish you'd tell that hard-headed sonuva bitch to come by here.
It's pretty simple. The six eligible receivers are the four backs and the two ends. If there is a fifth back, then there is one receiver too many. A tackle has become an end.
So I take it he's still in the upright position. For Shane's benefit I'll demonstrate a senior moment. Was this the place where we all posted say 5 - 10 years ago?
