I am just as pissed as everyone else about the refs and their impression of the staff from the Office....however.....WHAT IN THE **** was the deal with all of our False Starts and these were not the refs doing...they were CLEARLY false starts.
Barksdale definitely committed a false start. Sudden movement of any kind is an auto penalty. He flinched right before the play. It sucked because it was the only completion J. Lee would have of any importance. That combined with the roughing the punter and Divotgate sealed our fate.
I'd also like to know... on the play where Bama punted and we hit their punter... we had them stopped and forced to punt on 4th and 6... AFTER the play and the 5 yard penalty was assessed... how do they determine the spot should be INCHES from the 1st down marker... recap... ... Bama, punting on 4th and 6, and end up 4th and inches after a 5 yard penalty... the officiating was notoriously giving this game to bama tonight... the bama d-lineman who face masked the shiatt out of our o-lineman that resulted in a lee sack. The obvious INT by PP that was ruled incomplete... this game was rediculous.
Interesting turn events on that play. A really nice play set up by Crowton thrown out of the window because of the false start. 20 yard pass to the Bama 40, with a facemask at the end of it. Instead: false start; 4th and 10 (or 12). We punt, down it at the 1, and get a safety. We get the ball back, and score on the next possession. We ended up getting 8 points out of it. In hindsight, the play doesn't look that bad because it was the only time the defense and offense executed on consecutive drives. Everything went downhill from there.
Not exactly. We were down 6 when peterson picked it off. Of course, we know the sec office wants to see florida vs bama in the championship so we got screwed over. If the pick would have counted, we could have scored regained the lead and momentum
Another thing, why has the 'Go' route mysteriously disappeared from our playbook? I would have liked to have seen us take 3-4 shots downfield against Bama. Why not loft the ball up and let our receivers run under it (think M. Flynn to D. Byrd the last time we played in T-town in '07)? Bama is the perfect team for that play because they run alot of man coverage. I think I can count the number of times we've thrown the ball over 20yrds in the air (not counting YAC) on one hand. With the speed and talent that we have at WR, it's a shame that we don't even ATTEMPT it more than we do. Hell, who knows, it may even loosen up the box against the run.
Yes he did. It took 2 replays for me to see it but the eagle-eyed ref caught it right away. Funny how they missed the obvious spear that took JJ out.
