... Zach Lee had stayed at LSU instead of signing with the Dodgers? Would if have made a difference last year? It's hard knowing you were one player away from a National Championship. Hell, for that matter what would have happened if Les had kept Jefferson on the bench where he belonged? We might have lost the first Bama game, but who knows what would have happened in the rematch...
What if Flynn started over Russell against Florida in 06? What if Tebow never invented the jump pass? What if Ryan Perriloux was a lawful citizen and was never kicked off the team? What if we didn't have Perriloux at all in 07? What if Ricky Jean-Francois didn't come back before the SEC title game in 07? What if Jordan Jefferson was kicked off the team and Jarrett Lee started the entire season? What if Mett started the entire season? What if we ran the wildcat with Mathieu taking direct snaps and handing it off to Shep who runs a reverse and hands it to OBJ33 who throws it to Rueben Randle for a touchdown? Damn I'm such a smartass. :hihi: With that amount of dollar signs in Zach Lee's face, I don't blame him a damn bit.
LSU wasn't one "player" away from the national championship. They lost as a team. People need to accept that and quit it with the conspiracy theory tin foil hat bullsh*t.
Yes you are, but I kind of set myself up for that one. Just wondering what might have been if the best prospect we had signed in that timeframe had been available. Still heartbreaking to me that we were one player from a NC, and that Les bet all his chips on a lousy hand with a kid that was stupid enough to get arrested right before his senior year. I really wish we had just stuck with Lee and lived with the results. It would have been the right thing to do on so many different levels. BTW, I don't blame Zach Lee either, but I can't helping wondering what if
I am not a conspiracy theorist. The conspiracy angle is ridiculous and I have posted to that effect many times. However, I do think we could have won the NC with a better QB. So to that extent, I do believe we were one player away... However, I will acknowledge that a single player doesn't win or lose a game. When it is the most important position on the field, however, that player can make a huge difference.
I agree to many what-if's, can't go through life worrying about what could have been it will drive you crazy with all the iterations. We won as a team and lost as a team too late to do anything about it now time to move on and figure out how to play better in 2012 and not let the repeat of the BCSNC game happen again or for that matter the first 2 qtrs of the Ark and UGA games. Learn from our mistakes that is all we can ask of our coaches.
I agree that is a lot of "what ifs", but we are in the offseason so there's not too much football news going on. Plus I am stuck at work on the night shift tonite, so I am killing time by running these different scenarios through my head. Sorry if it is a little bit maddening to read. :milesmic:
That wasn't just for you, wasn't just talking to you on that one. One player would not have made a difference. It's a TEAM game, they lost as a TEAM. Why is that such a hard pill for people to swallow? In 06, if LSU scores at the end of the game at the barn, and if LSU doesn't stink it up at Florida, then LSU goes on to the SEC championship game and possibly faces Ohio State in the title game instead of destroying Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Always a team game my friend. Bama couldn't blame the first game on their kicker, they lost as a TEAM. What if, what if, what if....I absolutely hate what ifs.
