What if? This Michigan debacle got me thinking about our coach

I've been blown up on this board due to my outspokeness about Coach Miles. Some of the posts have been justified and some not. So be it.

I was thinking today what if CLM had taken that Michigan job and he would have (God forbid for Michigan fans) a losing record this year and not able to become bowl eligible? Well that is exactly the case except it is RR that is taking the heat.

What if CLM would have gone to Michigan and had the same record as RR? What if we would have hired someone else? Would they have the type of record, that CLM has or will have this year? Would they have a top 3 recruiting class in their grasp? I really don't think we could have found anybody as good as Les Miles.

I guess my point is I've probably been unfair to our coach. Does the fact that we have all this talent and can't win because of one position disturb me beyond belief? Sure.

So, thanks coach for making this your home and keeping our program as a top program in the country. Now go fix Jarrett Lee for goodness sakes. :)

One position did not cause the defense to play bad.

Nor did one position cause WR's to drop passes that could have kept drives alive or score TDs. In spite of Lee, if David had made an easy Field Goal or if a couple of receivers made some catches we probably would have beaten Bama.

No doubt but overall I'm saying we could have sang a much different tune had CLM left. Things could have been much worse for us this year.

how about if Bama didn't fumble at the 1 and also miss an easy FG?

Win as a team, lose as a team.

But don't go think LSU was the only team who made mistakes out there on Sat.

The difference between this year's team and other dominant teams is they can't put their foot on the other team's throat

Of course it is impossible to know for sure, but because so many things have to go your way to win a NC, (like a terrible CO team coming from behind and kicking a FG vs OK, and 3 highly ranked teams losing the last day of the season), I believe that if we would have hired anybody else, the whole balance of the universe would have been thrown off and we would not have won our second BCSNC.

    Thanks Les!

I assume you're talking about our two previous losses and not the most recent one, correct?

My thoughts exactly. The receivers have dropped balls or have been out of their route, and the defensive backs and linebackers have not always been effective.
