You don't think he vetted more than 3 candidates? I doubt that's true. And if you're hanging your hat on Eaux's record at Ole Miss, I think what we've seen so far this year eliminates that as a major concern. Sure, it's a knock, but the other guys have knocks too.
how many were interviewed? hint: we pulled the trigger on O before anyone else's season was even over. O deserved to be in consideration. He deserved an interview. i'm not questioning that at all. i'm not hanging my hat just on Ole Miss. but Ole Miss happened. and it's enough of a knock on him to justify going out and at least speaking to these other candidates to weigh out your options before make a decision. if after that is done if O is still your guy, hire O. but to act like he was the only worthy candidate not named Jimbo or Herman is extremely short sighted.
Exactly, it's not like O was going anywhere. How does it hurt to talk to more people. One thing that has been reaffirmed to me is how sad and pathetic sports journalism is. ESPN is basically a live message board.
Again, the search sucked, deja vu all over again! But that doesn't mean it was a bad hire or that O won't succeed. The two topics really are separate. I'm excited to see how he finishes the staff and what happens with recruiting. No matter what happens we should see a new offense being installed soon. I'm actually excited to see what next season brings, i couldn't say that last year.
Contracts are usually brought to the board a certain times during the year. Next one likely after the season. Could probably sign a term sheet or something like that but not fully binding. Common practice...we have seen coaches coaches games with out a signed and executed contract before on many occasions. I haven't heard anything that would make me worry about Aranda or Raymond to date.
Feldman reports that Aranda's new deal will reportedly make him the highest paid coordinator in CFB. https://twitter.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/status/803711320696590336
I thought I read that the contract had signatures, but was missing one. I assumed it was Aranda's since he was out recruiting. Was that report inaccurate?
Not sure...I know that sign on the dotted line type of terms are usually used often when involving any new coach or whatever but the way I understand it is that after terms are reached in principal the attornyes get to work and contracts are altered ect... and then goes to the board for final approval. Say we landed Jimbo...it would essentially been a handshake given he couldn't sign anything until after the 1st from what I understand. It is rare to see someone agree and then back out but it happened to LSU when the Bama softball coach agreed to become the next LSU coach before we signed Beth Torina.
