Joe Dean didn't settle for a third option when he wanted an unproven Saban. Point being big programs don't settle, nor have an inept moron for an AD.
it was actually Mark Emmert. he took the decision away from Dean because Joe didn't want to spend the money.
The question is Herman or Fisher better than Ogeron and top dollar coordinators, and I don't think the answer is as clear as all you negas believe. Experience and grit has real value.
HUGE difference! O sees that there is a problem and is making changes in coaches and philosophy to fix the problems. Water head thought everything was unicorns and fairy dust and refused to change anything. What coach could we have hired after game 4 and expected better results using the same coaching staff and playbook? If you see the same Les Miles shit show next season then you have an argument to make.
seriously? one has built a NC winning program. one has an extremely high winning percentage in his short time as a head coach with a very well respected resume on his way up the ladder. one is selling hopes and dreams while promising something that he has never even come close to delivering in his entire life. i'll take my chances with the guys who have skins in the wall all day over a sales pitch.
if the end result (won/loss record) is the same, what difference does it make? Les got fired. He should have been fired because his results sucked. don't care how he got the results. they sucked. they weren't good enough. he's gone. if O finishes 7-5 each of the next 3 years but looks prettier will you be happy? I won't. I want to win titles. I want to beat Bama and prison rape Florida. i could give a fuck what it looks like. results are results. and so far Os results look a whole hell of a lot like the feller we're paying to take a hike. and that's not good enough.
If after he makes the necessary hires and changes if its the same then you can complain, but how can you blame him before he has a chance to do what he thinks needs doing? Doesn't he get a chance to fix it first?
