Our OL instills as much confidence as the tail end of a can of shaving cream. Johnson's mechanics need more consistency. Wish he could spend a weekend at the Nussmeier family and get some coaching from Garrett's dad.
Dellenger played most of the way at LT, I think. Baptism of fire for a true freshman. Don't think the defensive breakdowns were so much a loss of discipline as it was Leach finally adjusting to what should have been there for him all day, which was RB's circling out of the backfield. I thought our breakdown was in not recognizing it when he finally began exploiting it and assigning a LB to pick up the back. On the other hand, the first rule of the defense all day was "keep everything in front of you." Maybe Jones figured so long as we can tackle after the catch, let them throw underneath. If so, the final score would suggest he was right.
What I saw.. O line needs prayers and a lot of work. Can't get a run push at all. Some improvement in pass blocking but still can't pick up a blitz effectively. Not as many dropped passes Max improved but is holding the ball too long at times and needs to work on getting through his progressions faster. Also needs to work on his footwork. Footwork is causing a lot of errant or off target passes. Kid is a gamer and should be fine. Defense Tackling improved. Hard to tell beyond that. Got no pressure at all with that three man rush but that looked like it may have been by design. Linebacker play is still very suspect with regards to passing plays. Flats coverage and backs out of the backfield need a lot of work. Wasn't pretty but it is an SEC win. Must get better fast.
Because he got burnt, again, and the qb didn't put enough sauce on the ball does not make him a honey badger. Flott is a liability
