no one is perfect because no one tries to be perfect. as long as we keep scoring like crazy in the 2nd half, my avatar will keep smiling.
Pelini is one of the best defensive minds in the country. You had better be careful for what you wish.
In some games we have taken winning ugly to a new level. But I'll take a 1 point ugly win over a 3 point "pretty" loss any day. 3 more ugly wins means another :crystal:
LSU is #2 in the nation in total Defense, giving up an avg. of 257.6 YPG and #1 in the SEC. LSU is giving up only 78.3 rushing yards per game, #3 in the nation. That is after yesterdays game. On the other hand Ark O is avg. 300 rushing yards per game and 117 passing YPG for an avg of 417 YPG total Off. to date.
2 errors on my part. I meant to say that LSU has outscored the opposition in the second half of its games. I misunderstood your post where you were talking about the season. Still, although we are not shutting down the opposition, the defense is doing more than enough to win. I understand that some fans have a need to look at the negative aspects, but if it were me, I'd wait until we are ranked below #1 and out of the NC race before trying so hard to find a reason to complain.
Anyone not concerned about the defense giving up almost 500 yards of offense to a team that ranks 97th nationally is fooling themselves. I think they look tired out there but hopefully they can suck it up these last two games and have a month off before the title game, then we will see a well rested defense and perhaps that will make all the difference.
Lets replace Pelini and then we can have the 8th or 9th or 20th ranked defense not the 2nd overall defense in the country. Then lets see how much crying is going on.
Don't know whose fault it is, but our secondary can't seem to get within 2-3 yards of a reciever without getting a flag thrown on them lately. It truly is dumbfounding how open opposing WRs are getting.
I've mentioned in another thread I think. If you watched the defense late in the second half the DL didn't have an attacking rush. It may look like a tired DL to the average fan but it was actually a containment type rush to keep Schaffer in the pocket and force him to throw instead of scramble for 15 yrds which he did several times earlier. With that said, the DL did fail to get pressure on the QB early on, even when blitzing, the pressure didn't get to him fast enough. That did concern me, but I think Ole Miss got the yards they did because their OL performed very well and were ready for the blitzes. Also, Ole Miss put in a QB that LSU probably didn't prepare for and got burned a few times.
