Hatch is better than people think, he was a scholarship QB for BYU before Crowton got fired - BYU has a better reputation for QBs than LSU. He's got D1 large school talent - a good arm and as fast as flynn (above avg. runner). He'll come in if Flynn gets hurt and run the same offense - he is said to have grasped the offense by the first game of the season. Not only does he have the talent no one thinks he does, he has the maturity...being 3 years removed from high school.
which is something rp should have thought about before getting himself into another situation. all of his actions have the potential to effect more than himself. i applaud miles for doing what he can to try to keep lsu from getting a thug u reputation. that kind of rep has long term consequences, not the least of which is in recruiting. not doing something could hurt more in the long term. all strictly imo, of course. on that note, and not to hijack. the oline will just have to step up and protect flynn!
You have to wonder if our play calling will be altered based on the fact we must not put Flynn in harms way. For instance, not likely any kind of QB draw, sneak, option, or delayed run will be called. Will he be told not to run when flushed out of the pocket? This obviously would have implications on how creative we can be on offense. With that said, I think our running game will be on point and produce over 250 yards, taking pressure off Flynn to have to come up big in the passing game.
if find myself saying that a little to often this season. but that's the ticket. we just have to believe!!!
I'm sure we have a lot of former QB's on our roster that could probably rotate in a couple plays. Kinda like Skyler Green did in the Peach Bowl I think it was. Maybe we'll see something like the wildcat or the spread option where we have at least a couple running options to go to for all our runners.
Well, if the situation warrant's I think ED could step in. But, if Hatch is ready, I think he'd be the man. :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
My prediction is that Flynn will have at least one designed running play called within the first 5-10 plays of the game, precisely because they'll want to show Bama that they're not afraid to run him. It'll most likely be a "safe" running play, ideally giving him time to slide or get out of bounds. They (LSU) will do at least a couple of other designed runs with Flynn throughout the game for the same reason.
agree...and to also offset a wild rush on passing downs, and because it just plain works in certain situations and Flynn is capable of doing it (and healthy)
I agree totally. We cannot go vanilla in hopes of keeping Flynn safe. My dad often said that playing to avoid injury often caused one. We run our offense.
