Check the Blackwell thread. http://www.tigerforums.com/tigers-den/101229-what-happened-will-blackwell.html
I was wondering why Miles went to Hebert as well and not Williford, I guess it had something to do with experience and the particular matchup with whoever was opposite Hebert. I don't know. I'm deferring to the coaches on that one...might be a good question on the call in show.
Hebert was the only backup with any experience. Did any other OL reserves get into the game at all? Are we going to have another year where the starting 5 play the entire game? How do we develop depth if we don't play reserves, Studrawa?
If I remember right, Miles tried to "promote" him outta here to Porter in Memphis...but he wouldn't leave.:rolleye33:
I'm kinda shocked Williford or Washington aren't apparently ready. But didn't we hear earlier in the season that Hebert was learning guard just for this reason - to provide depth? Wish I could rewatch the game and see how Hebert did. Lots of folks saying he sucked...would be interested in seeing for myself.
Washington just started working at OG along with OT a couple of weeks ago. Pretty hard transition from HS last year. Williford has done well but Les went with experience and T-Bob actually did pretty well given he hasn't worked at the position at all from what I understand. He did have that holding penalty on the Ridley TD but if you watch the replay it was an excellent block. Was actually impressed with his play and I am usually his biggest critic.
But what of Shaw the junior and redshirts Branch and Faulk, who were said to be too green last year but on the verge of being ready, like Blackwell. All have the size we need. Hebert plays smart on the line, I think. He blocks the right man, he just didn't have the size and leverage to move people out of the way last year.
