No, but seriously. That is a loser attitude. You're just stating it like it's a fact that the team will lose. As quiet as Tiger Stadium was last week, do we as fans really deserve a team in the NC?
Yes, but do we, as fans, really want to spend alot of money and time watching our team not play for a NC due to the sad performance we witnessed last week? I mean, Ill be watching the game in HD with my usual tailgating crew (plus a few more family and friends) none of whom I would be able to relish watching LSU beat Tennessee in Atlanta because they wouldnt be able to make it any way. What gets me is that youre actually trying to pin the loss on the fans. I for one am very upset about the loss, and not just b/c of the lost NC appearance oppurtunity. It was how we lost, to a less talented team no less. Its one thing to lose to a better team, but to lose like we did versus a lesser team is flat out disappointing.
I have never in my life not pulled for LSU or its players. No the players have nothing to do with the lousy no "Lesticles" play call Bo "future head coach" Pellinii made, but not stopping them on that fourth down was a complete momentum killer and Id geaux ahead and say lost us the game. Im not getting hostile BTW, Im just staing a fact.Bcause honestly, I agree with you. We lost entirely because of coaching. All of our players played with tremendous heart so in no way have I ever nor will I ever blame the loss on the players. Hell Im really not even saying the loss is the reason I wont go. The loss merely took the "specialness" out of this game and considering I could hardly afford to go in the first place, that was enough to make me 51/49% in favor of not going.
Drunken, I ain't blaming the fans for the loss. I just asked a question. I don't know if you were at the game, but did it seem like we had a NC on the line based on the crowd at the game? I can say it was a weak environment. At the end it got loud, but it was like the fans expected a blow out. Probably the fans and the team went in with a similar attitude. We sucked together and got what we deserved. I believe most teams would have had trouble stopping Arkansas thanks to that formation they ran almost the entire game. It worked perfect because although it looked like the same play every time, we never knew who was getting the ball. DMAC is one of the best players I've ever seen and Jones is a 1st rounder as well. We really haven't stopped them for two years in a row. And yes, the 4th and 10 defensive call was plain stupidity. No doubt, the "specialness" you speak of will be lessened because of our loss. But the Arkansas game should have been somewhat special with all those seniors, our home winning streak, NC still on the line. It wasn't at all. Everyone thought we were gonna waltz into the championship game. That ain't how it works. I don't blame you for not going especially if it was a strecth financially in the 1st place. But none of the fans should be saying that they're not going based on a poor performance we had. If that's the case, why did they attend games after the Tulane game? Florida game? Alabama game? Those games were just alike with us playing poor in the beginning and fighting our way back. The only difference is that we were fortunate enough to win those games and people could keep riding the bandwagon.
As much as I like the team we have become and the respect we finally get across the country, I REALLY miss the true LSU fans. The fans that sat through a freezing ass monsoon to watch Miami have their sexual way with us, then showed up the next week to cheer the Tigers on again. The fans that got all excited when we got an offer for the Independence Bowl. Now we act like the spoiled little teen age girl that is pissed because her brand new car is not the right shade of color. It was not that long ago that we were in the same place as ole miss or MSU and there is no guarantee that we won't be back there. Maybe we as fans should enjoy what we have right now, before it goes away again.
I think the lack of interest has as much to do with the match up as it does our coaching situation and last Friday's loss. Tennessee getting in just turned this game into a national YAWN game. There is very little interest, discussion or excitement on a national level about this game. Couple that with the other distractions and it just makes for a ho-hum affair. I'm still looking forward to it and will be cheering my ass off!
And go away it will. may not be this year or next or the next but it will. Then we will be back to having the true fans of LSU not the bandwagon variety.
I was excited for the Independence Bowl but once you sleep with a cheerleader, those flag girls just don't do it for you. I sure ain't hanging around if we go back to losing 4 or 5 games. Gonna miss you guys but screw dat.
