Well I'm going to be there..and if we lose...I'll still be 'TIGER BAITIN' people in preparation for the next time we play UT.
What Happened to us? We rushed THREE on FOURTH AND 10 in OVERTIME!!! So hell yeah were disappointed...... BTW, did I mention the QB we didnt rush was Casey Dick, a guy who probably couldnt start for half the trams in the conference?
So this is reason not to support the guys on the team. This was a coaching decision not a player decision. I am not picking on you I just think that it is ashame how many have decided not to go to the game because they had such lofty expectations of a bunch of 18, 19 and 20 year old guys. I understand people are upset but be upset with the coaching and not the kids on the field.
Look, we're all disappointed that there's not a sure BCS Championship game waiting for us should we pull it out on Saturday. We had it coming. We were very fortunate to be 10-1 so late in the season. I felt sort of the same way a lot of people feel. It's almost like you lose interest because your expectations are so high. But still, this is the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE LINE. In a year when everyone has been up and down, the winner this year will really have something to be proud of. Georgia might be great and all this stuff, but they'll be watching from Hooters or wherever come Saturday. And let me say, there are a lot of bandwagon fans out there. We all have a little bit of bandwagon in us at one time or another. But some will shake it off and others will be the lifetime "bandwagoneers". Now I can see someone not being that excited to see LSU play Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl should LSU pull out a W in Atlanta. But you're a BANDWAGON if you can't get a little excited about playing a Tennessee team that has consistently kicked our asses over the years except for our last few meetings. I know the team may be feeling down and almost unexcited and that's only natural, but I seriously doubt the team won't feel anything when that band goes out on the field, fires up the fight song and those thousands of TRUE LSU fans go absolutely nuts. Possibly the most exciting environment (both teams) that I've ever experienced was the first time these two teams met in Atlanta. It was the crazy loud when each band took the field. I expect it to be similar on Saturday. It will feel like LSU games of old when there really was something to prove and we felt like underdogs. And if the team can get fired up with the loyalty that those fans will show, then they deserve to lose. You don't think those fans are disappointed? No doubt they are. But they are the reason why people hype up LSU fans so much. Most of those that will be there were probably depressed and negative the whole week about the team. But by Friday, they're packing their sh** and hitting the road with an "I don't give a sh**, I'm still going" attitude". They're roasting corn dogs (for you Auburn queers) and singing Lynyrd Skynyrd songs in their El Caminos. People who were absolutely planning on going before the Arkansas loss, yet will not make the trip if offered a free ticket are living in BANDWAGON CENTRAL. It's okay, it happens. But hopefully, one day soon, y'all will come back from the dark side. Besides, if you were going before, the same championship is still on the line. You would have only gotten to see a BCS National Championship by spending more $ you cheap bastards. I'm kidding with that part, I know all this crap can get expensive. I am William Wallace. Sorry, I'm getting carried away. I think I just went into preacher mode for a second for some reason. If we should happen to get skunked by Tennessee, someone please erase this post for eternity. If it's a close loss though, that's acceptable. Now, let's go Pitt and OU. You never know, people thought it was impossible for OU to lose to K. ST. in 03. All that is highly unlikely though. Go Tigers. And for anyone going to the game...here's to you.
i think you're absolutely right. we're seeing up close and personal what it's like to have a fairweather fan base. in 01 and 03 you couldn't find a ticket to this game much less a free ticket. i know that it being thursday it was really late to get people on board with me considering we all have work, children, school, etc. but i mean people's eyes didn't even light up. just shrugged it off like it's no big deal. i know i'm being drastic (can't help it, i'm pissed i'm not going), but i seriously think going back to a mediocre program might be what we need to get this fanbase to realize we're not just going to win everything everytime. it's a game, there's winners and losers. right now our fans are only fans of the wins, not the team. you support this team or you don't. if you don't, then stop going to the games, stop buying up tickets when there's others who will take them win or lose, stop criticizing us for not being in the national title hunt. it's just ridiculous now. i miss going to games not caring about wins or losses, just happy to be there.
Y'know, people need to keep things in perspective. Even with all the BS this year...coaching decisions, bad play, penalties etc. We were only a mere "handful" of points away from being in the NCG. How many schools would "kill" to be where we are right now! Its been a tough year, and I can understand people being pissed. I was for a while, still am to a degree, but this ticket thing is "dumbass". Support your school...these kids deserve it!!! :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
we're all disappointed but welcome to the world of sports. somebody has to lose and sometimes that team is lsu. it's the point of sports. and what's the point of being a fan? cheering your damn team on win or lose. not sitting at home pouting about not blitzing (that's not why they got the first anyway). you're exactly the definition of a fairweather fan. it's like only being a friend when your friend has a good job or nice house or nice tv. you're either a friend or you're not just like you're either a fan or you're not.
Just reminded me of something my HS coach would always tell us, "WINNING IS everything, if you don't believe me, see who's going to come and watch a bunch of losers". tenebrism, with this one, there's some truth to what you're saying but it's not so much THAT we lost, right or wrong, it's more the timing, I'd think. Time has a way of healing things.
You need to quit whining about human nature. LSU fans just can't get excited about the prospects of beating anyone right now... I turned down a few tickets myself. The last thing I want to do is spend money I don't have to watch the team lose.
