Who ever are comparing Jones from Bama to Shepard is delusional. Jones is the next Randy Moss if he stays healthy. The guy is a freak of nature. Hands size and speed. Russell IMO should watch and learn this year. He is a pure athlete and they need to figure out where to stick this guy and keep him there. Be it CB, Safety, WR, RB or QB. Guys that flip-flop all over the place never pan out and are 1 in a million. Russell is not that one. Expectations become too high. If CLM wants to run a wildcat package then great but one time a game wont work. You need a ten-play package to make it work. If anyone’s going to grab a snap and run around the end then it should be Trindon and NO ONE ELSE! If he can't bust one to the outside then no one in the SEC can.

I don't want Lee to play every other snap. I just want him to get in the game when Jefferson starts throwing erratic. Like I said little dump off's and hand offs only. Then take a big shot down the field when the safety cheats up. Then it's a TD!

Cant help but think how our GREAT WR's are going to waste so far. They seem to be coming around last game and a glimmer against Vandy. However something tells me that CLM is holding back! Remember the diversity the team had when Jamarcus and Flynn were playing? We can get that back! :crystal:

Shepard has far better 'vision' than Trindon does.. and is fast enough to get to the corner. Shepard is easily in the same class as Julio Jones as a freshmen. I'm not joking when I say he is literally one of the top-5 prospects of this decade.. and that's insane.

He's ready to play. He'll make a few freshmen mistakes.. but who won't? FWIW Julio Jones hasn't scored a TD in 11 games. (12, but he was injured last week) so he's the 3rd best WR in the SEC.. at best.

Sorry but that boat has sailed.

We had great and ample opportunity to do that in the first 3 games and the coaching staff refused. If it wasn't going to happen vs UL, then they had no plans to do it at all.

I think it's too late... to me it's Jefferson's position through at least the Florida game. After Florida, you evaluate and see where he is at and make a decision if it needs to be made. Bye week follows then Auburn and Tulane if Lee needs to get reps.

If they put Lee in down 21-0 to Florida I want them all fired. I don't care if they go 0-3 in the next three games and don't score one point, it's Jefferson's team now.

    Just my take.

I agree in part, but it's not the coaching staff that is to blame. They called the long ball SEVERAL times, but JJ can't seem to hit them. Our window of opportunity for shoring that up is rapidly closing.

Clarification: I agree that they don't plan on SHEP throwing the rock.

I tend to agree. They could be holding something back but I cant see letting a true freshman throw his first balls against any of our next 3 opponents.

This actually brings up a question about Shep's long term development. The way I see it, the more Shep gets used as a specialty player the less likely he will be in the QB rotation. I suppose Shep could end up being the starter his senior season but the way they are giving him reps as a hybrid will make it hard for him to get experience at QB.

No, no, no, no. Jefferson has proven that he is capable of running the offense and making plays. The occasional gimmick play with Sheppard or Lee can be worked into the game plan... but anything more than that and you risk disrupting the flow of the game and Jefferson's development as a QB. JJ is still just getting his feet wet on the college level and needs every snap he can get to gain confidence and develop as a QB.

The 2 QB system rarely, if ever, benefits anyone. It didn't even work when we tried it with Flynn/RP. It just disrupted the flow of the game and led to delay of game penalties and wasted timeouts. Of course I also hate the stupid "check with me" thingy most college offenses are doing these days. :yelwink2:

We are currently ranked about 90th in the nation in total offense and while that has to change I don't think QB is where the change needs to happen. I think a bigger issue is the offensive line. They really need to gel as a group and start playing like we all thought could. That would take a lot of pressure off the QB and allow Crowton to open up the offense.

I have to agree with you there, I hate that crap unless it's a special situation. Freaking put in the play, QB can audible if needed. That crap just pisses me off. The OCs trying to act like they are so smart.

What would take the pressure off of the offense is the OC not telegraphing plays to the defense, he might as well have a red phone direct line to the opposing DC and just tell him directly what the play is going to be.
