I suppose some of us just go over the top when it comes to the Tigers. After my wife took me off the 24 hour suicide watch last Saturday night, I have read many of our posts of TF, done a little fishing and spent some time with family. Today during lunch I started thinking about the Tigers and what a great run we are on. Other posters are correct in that many on TF probably don’t remember or were not die hard fans in the black days of the 1990’s those long suffering seasons with more L’s than W’s. Long sad trips home for my wife and me from Athens, Little Rock, Fayetteville, Jackson, Gainesville, Lexington and Tuscaloosa. Depressing days. But, starting the 2000 regular season LSU has amassed 80 wins (including bowls). Here is my breakdown of this golden era of LSU Tiger Football – 2000 through 2007 (pre SECCG & Bowl): 80 wins for an average of 10 wins a year. 4 SEC West Titles. 2 SEC Titles & 1 NC 8 straight bowl games We will definitely make it 9 bowls in a row and have a chance to make it 3 SEC Titles. When I set back and look at this record, I think to myself – what the hell are any of us complaining about. This is a great program. Mistakes are made just like all other programs and as fans we can and should criticize and complain – keeps folks on their toes. But this is an outstanding record. I am now officially a very grateful and very happy Tiger fan. I am well aware that everything could be better. But it could be worse – we could have lost Glen Dorsey for good in the Auburn game, think of what that would have done to us. We were lucky that lick on Craig Steltz in the Kentucky game didn’t cost us his services for the rest of the season. So when I think about what might have been – I don’t just see our lost chance at a NC, I see the possibility of 8-4 staring back at me. The accomplishments of this program and this 2007 team are wonderful and will not be forgotten by this old Tiger fan. Geaux Tigers!!!!!!! ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule:
Be careful, with a thread like this you will be labelled politically correct, accused of not reading any other threads before you post, and you risk being called a Robin Hood! Not to mention getting called out for not being a contributor! Much better to whine and complain. (All this was written with a smile on my face, please don't take it too seriously!)
Mike in Memphis, If only we had all taken a day off to grieve before we started posting, we might sound as sane as thee.... A GREAT POST. Thanks for the positive ( and accurate ) summary of the true state of Tiger football. :geauxtige
Well lets see – Politically correct - my partners certanily don't think so  Not reading other posts – well I actually skim a lot of them  Not being a contributor – no I am a contributor ldskule: Robin Hood – I am a lawyer so many confuse me with the do gooder thief :rolleye33: Whine and complain – hell I’m married so that just comes naturally:lol:
Well I am a contributer and I post a little bit and I number pne disagree with that comment as I support my boys no matter what. Number two do I think that mistakes were made...yes. Do I want to thrown anybody under the bus for it...not so much. People discussing problems that happen throughout a game are not saying they don't respect the team that they support. Were there some posts that have been over the top? Of course happens anytime we lose. Remember being positive is appreciated her but calling out the people that contribute a lot here won't be. Contributer or not. Mike is pretty well respected around here.
I'm onboard with this one. First game I remember watching was that '66 Cotton Bowl win. LSU has a great program and we, as fans, will play a huge part in keeping it going. High school athletes want to go play where they are appreciated. I can't think of any other place in this world where they are more appreciated than here. We lost a big game. We are not going to be the National Champions. But we are still the LSU TIGERS! That's the team I've loved my entire life. I just don't see anything happening that is ever going to change that. Geaux TIGERS!!!!!
