I vote for Bobby Johnson. Around South Carolina everyone knew he was a great coach but he needed the right job, and I think Vanderbilt is perfect. Vanderbilt has not won a ton of games, but the program has been improved a lot, and they are at least competitive each year and are now competing with SEC schools for recruits, something that never happened before. Plus he is a good guy.

I thought it was interesting that Vanderbilt doesn't release Johnson's salary because of being a private college. I am not doubting this guy because even though it is a blog he is usually pretty right if he says something (even if it swayed to the Gator side), but so do only board of directors and presidents know his salary or what?

I know, I know about the Saban thing but I think I will post a lot here to lead the thread and if it gets out of control just delete it!

Gee Wiz, I didn't realize Saban's wins were so expensive- did anyone else?

    Croom is a "Deal" though.

I agree but I still want to know at least a ball park on what Johnson makes! Actually was one of the reasons I posted this and tb3 picked up on it asap!

I think he has done well for vandy and I don't know much about him as a person but if tb3 says he is a good guy then I will go with that!

Just guessing I would assume it is around 750-900k.

Also, you can look at per win, but some coaches...Saban/Spurrier pull a lot more money to the school indirectly.

Interesting that none of the top 4 paid SEC coaches are at 10 wins. It also shows the top 5 paid coaches should have their team in the SEC Championship at least every other year. Coach Miles will fall into that category next year regarding pay expectations.

Does anyone know what events triggered the escalation in Coaches Salaries?
