Based on the article I just read (pay site, so didn't link it), the investigation into the bar fight is still very much ongoing. According to the BRPD, they had no plans to arrest anyone today, but charges can still happen. Lets say that LSU continues to prepare for the Oregon game with Jefferson in place as the starter, and midweek next week BRPD says they are charging him. This is very much a possibility. If you are Miles, do you make Lee your starter? Gameplan for a 2 QB lineup as a middle ground? Or stick with Jefferson and take your chances? You not only have to decide what its good for the players, but also what is best for the team. Personally, I feel that the best thing for the team is to start working Lee as the starter. There HAS TO BE some kind of punishment for Jefferson for breaking curfew and being involved in a fight. What that involvement is and what the punishment should be is yet to be determined... but we know something will be done. From a purely selfish standpoint (YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!), Lee and Jefferson are a push, talent-wise, so if you aren't worried about feelings and egos, you know that putting Lee in is the safe bet. Only my opinion. I'm sure someone will just say "Go back to USL!" but for those of you with IQs above 80, what are your opinions? (and please explain why)
Non-issue. JJ won't be charged with anything, Landry, now that is a different story so lets change it to what to do about him? We all know Les would start JJ if he had two broken limbs and a blind eye so whats the difference.
I don't think it's that tough at all. Lee should get plenty of reps, and Mett too. A lot of what we do is out of the I, or pro-set. We lose the runs that are designed for JJ and his scrambling ability (if he's out). Mett is likely to be our QB next year and thankfully, we have a true QB coach now in Krags. Mett should get some first team reps also. As far as suspensions go, I am sure coach has all the info he needs by now. He knows who broke curfew. They'll pay for that. He knows he threw punches and he knows who was just trying to break the fight up and Les will punish them accordingly.
It has been reported that Lee has been taking about 50% of the snaps with the 1's all of fall camp, so, even if JJ get's suspended for the Oregon game (not going to happen unless he is arrested) it shouldn't change much of anything. The question should be is Mett going to get reps with the 1's.:yelwink2:
I gotta agree. It's going to take a lot for Coach to suspend/bench him. I don't think any players who had nothing to do with this altercation but who broke curfew should be punished with anything other than wind sprints or whatever other physical punishment he comes up with.
I totally agree and there have been several reports that said JJ wasn't involved in the actual fight. One came from Rosetta. If JJ wasn't swinging and/or kicking, he won't be charged or arrested and therefore I doubt he'll be suspended.
For the good of the image of the program, the evidence that JJ SHOULD NOT be suspended better be overwhelming, otherwise the appearance is that Miles won't suspend a player who is important to a win. As far as reps go, it pretty common to evenly split reps during fall camp. This is not the case during a game week... so the reps I am referring to are next week.
Coach Miles ought to do whatever he did the year of Katrina....you think this is a distraction?...this is nothing, but a small bar fight. I don't think anyone will get suspended/dismissed until after the trial. Not waiting until the trial was concluded was Alleva's biggest sin at Duke. ...and the parking/tailgating fee was his biggest sin at LSU.
I think CLM needs to find out exactly what happened then act accordingly. If he doesnt know the whole story he shouldnt do anything. The whole reason is there is sooooo many rumors going around and most are totally different. The media outside of Louisiana is painting the players as a bunch of villans that go around attacking people and everyone is so sure its all JJ. It could be JJ but think about 99% of the people out there cant identify anyone but JJ if the 4 guys were standing in front of them. Also I have heard several different but 1 name always stayed in there JJ. And the media (Finebaum and his Bama drum pounders) are basically on the bandwagon that the so called marines are so innnocent and its all JJ whipping everyones asses.
