Yep. He also knows he screwed up in the first game. He should have punted and pinned us back deep instead of attempting field goals he could not make.
I think the LSU offense will have a little something that bama's not quite expecting. One thing we may see is an up-tempo/no-huddle attack. Remember, our guys said that they got really good at executing this when they were preparing the D for Oregon. This could really help wear down bama's big front 7. I also think that we'll see some sort of wrinkle in the option play. It will probably be subtle, but just enough to neutralize bama's prep for it.
Good point but we saw that more with Lee. I'm not sure if Jefferson can pose a big enough passing threat for this to be effective but it would be a good game plan to wear down this big linebackers and linemen. Yeah they will need to mix it up somehow because Bama knows that's how they got beat last time. Gotta stay one step ahead.
I would like to see us roll Jefferson out of the pocket more. This would put pressure on Bama's defense in a couple of different ways: 1) Keep that big front 7 running sideline to sideline while having to defend both the pass and/or run; 2) Keep pressure off of Jefferson and allow him time to survey the field with the option to tuck it and run. Secondly, the one time this season that I really saw Alabama's defense in disarray was against Georgia Southern. Bama simply could not stop the triple option and I think Ga South rushed for well over 300 yards. I could see this working with Hilliard at the FB position and primarily Ford in the RB position plus it best utilizes Jefferson's ability to run. I'm not saying we need to abandon all other things but this would be a surprise if we came out and did it for a drive or two. Either way, I have complete faith in our coaching staff that they will have a gameplan that allows our players a chance to compete and win as long as they play up to their potential. Alabama is a good football team but we are better as long as we play our game. Alabama's best chance to win this game is for us to play completely uncharacteristic football and turn the ball over, miss assignments on defense and completely wiff on special teams. I just do not see it happening...not in the dome.....not this team.
True And.....LSU's turnovers were just stupid mistakes, balls thrown right to defenders, presents given away. Whereas Bama's turnovers were our defenders making very athletic plays on defense. Bama fans can say what they want, but LSU made just as many mistakes and missed on just as many opportunities. We have told opposing teams after losses all year that their team made mistakes because our defense forced them, and I will give that credit to Alabama and their defense. BUT.....those mistakes were 1st half only, once JJ came in, we had more rhythm and moved the ball better. JJ has only gotten better since, Hilliard has come on strong since, and more importantly, we will be healthier, less banged up, and have had a ton more time to prepare. Alabama will come in this game with the exact same plan, and execute it the exact same way. (Insert Definition of insanity here) getting the same results (6 Points) - Nick Saban is that stubborn, and to prove something he will roll with the same game plan to prove his coaching style beats CLM without having to change it up, he is a little man with little man syndrome and that is just his MO It will be a dog fight for the first 3, LSU will hold a 6 point lead at the half, turn it into 13 by end of the 3rd and never look back.
Strongly agree. Add to that, it may be the only way that JJ gets open receivers to throw to. bama's secondary is very, very good right off the snap. They are practically standing in position, waiting for the WR to come right to them. That's why Lee didn't fare so well; he chunks it too quickly. As we well know, JJ has a lot more patience, which he may need to buy time so the WRs can get themselves open.
All good points here. I think CLM has some plays up his sleeve that we have not seen this season, and he brings them out on January 9th. :geauxtige
Of course the key is execution. Our OL continues its solid play which will enable JJ to hopefully be more consistant. We have got to take pressure off of the running game. JJ has got to complete passes so the safeties do not come down in the box. Big advantage to us if JJ starts well in this game.
Did we score a TD?? As far as JJ getting better look to the 1st half of the Georgia game . The only game I can remember LSU got 0 1st downs . And you call that better ? This game will have 50+ points in it it will take more than 3 TD's to win this game Go look at the 3rd and 4th quarter play by play , I think you will see it was a bit different than you think it was . Bama did better on offense than LSU in the 2nd half LSU Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide - Play By Play - November 05, 2011 - ESPN
