Expectation: Nerves, at least one interception, and some dropped balls because he'll probably only be throwing with two speeds - hard and harder. I also expect to see him run too much. What I hope for him: a win, and a better second half than whatever his first half is. What I hope for LSU: a performance (here and in the bowl game) that makes the Spring QB competition a two-man race with Shep possibly making it a three-man race. :geaux:
So far, it's his legs that are keeping the offense moving. That's not a bad thing. As long as he stays healthy. He's not exactly shifty.
No nerves whatsoever from all appearances. And he has shown touch on that pass to Dickson for the TD, which is awesome to see. Also, the pass to QJohnson had some touch as well. He does appear to have satisified plenty of Tiger fans enough to believe he will be leading this team next season.
He appears to be equally dangerous, be it pass or run. But yes, the legs are keeping the defenses wary of a run, thus opening up some big plays downfield.
True, he still has a lot to learn as a passer and is very raw, but seems much more under control and settled than Lee. With time he could be really good, especially since he is very dangerous running the ball.
He plays faster than his 40 time. I think his running ability will have him starting next year. This added dimension allows us to keep drives alive by scrambling and picking up first downs when no one is open. Lee would have to force the ball into coverage or throw the ball away. Hatch just doesn't have the arm strength. Many people have already forgotten how many times Flynn ran for first downs on 4th quarter drives. I am not saying he will be great because he has almost no experience. It is a shame he couldn't have accumulated more experience this year to prepare him for next year, but at least this gives us hope for the future.
Even though it ended in a loss, he gave me WAY more hope than any other QB that has touched the field this season.
