Guys I learned this in pre-middle school football 50 yes FIFTY years ago. If you have put yourselves in a situation where the (an) incompetent ref decides the game instead of you, you got what you deserved. Yeah we have had some (a lot) of bad calls, but the best way to mitigate that is to kick butt both before and after the call. Now that is what we have not done. hwr
The kid did what any defender would have done in the same situation - take his good sweet time and lay there as long as possible while the clock ticks. I'd think our players would have done the same. The ref should have made him get up quickly or else flagged him for delay of game and stopped the clock. But instead Hitt grabs him and starts pulling him off the pile. You just can't do that and not get flagged. A bad situation. Had LSU played competitive football for 4 quarters and not just one, it shouldn't have come to that. Disappointing to be sure.
Honestly, I wish Hitt would have kicked him in the groin. Might as well since the game was lost because of it. that''s just some classless crap right there, typical big ten BS. Jus sayin...
Honestly, if the shoe was on the other foot and an LSU player did that we'd all be commenting on what a great heads up play that was by a Tiger. That is just smart football as long as it is not so excessive as it draws a delay of game. What was uncalled for was the personal foul penalty on Hitt. That was just as legal and heads up as Bowman being slow in getting up. We just got screwed there.
its BS its not football. Football is where you PLAY not try to delay the game on purpose and hope the REF doesnt catch it. Do YOU do business ethics this way? jus sayin. :dis: its lame BS period. Id be embarressed if an LSU player did it. He shoulda drawn the penalty for delay of game. if I were the Penn State player I would want to be able to say we beat LSU fair and square and i didnt have to lay on the ball and chance a penalty to win it. Sad way to win justify it how you will.
At one point the game was stopped for at least 5 minutes because NONE of the officials could figure out what down it was. Seriously?!
It's neither BS nor lame, it's smart football. It's what every single team would do in the same situation, including LSU. It's part of the game. PSU risked taking a delay penalty if he lingered too much or interfered with spotting the ball. Hitt knows you can't grab and drag another player ever without being penalized. We all know that the guy who retaliates is always the guy who gets seen and flagged rather than the instigator. Again, had LSU played good football for more than 1 quarter, it wouldn't matter. I hope we don't continue to slide into decline where we become a fanbase of crybabies over every call in every game because we aren't able to just beat an opponent outright by playing better football than them for 60 minutes.
Typifies the season for LSU. Refs were prominent in all 4 losses. Missed push off on UF's lone TD, the complete and utter fiasco in Tuscalooser (there are about 10 to pick from), the running off of extra seconds against Ole Miss (precipitated by them robbing Jones of a beautiful pick), and now this. But what can you expect? When you continually put forth such sh!tty efforts, you put too much of your fate in the hands of idiotic officiating.
