With no timeouts remaining for the Tigers on their final drive, Bowman rolled around on top of wide receiver Brandon LaFell after the play was whistled dead in an attempt to take time off a clock that showed less than 30 seconds remaining.
Then, LSU offensive guard Lyle Hitt removed Bowman from LaFell, drawing a penalty flag from an official and ending any chance LSU had to attempt a game-winning field goal.
"He threw me aside, but I had a plan with him what I was doing," Bowman said. "I was using my brain. They had no timeouts left, so I thought about laying on the guy for a couple extra seconds to let the clock run out, and it helped us out, and they got a penalty, and it got us a victory."

If you want to read the entire article....here it is straight from Penn State.

Is he that insecure to point out to people that he is using his brain?

Well, at least he was honest:yelwink2:

And about the point from the PSU players that Bowman was "thrown" to the ground, how do you expect anyone to gently lay the heavy dude down; of course you drop them like a sac of heavy potatoes.:D which was what I saw.

It was a bum wrap for us, that's for sure. Penn State was doing everything they could to drag the clock out. We tried to put a stop to it, and we got flagged. It should never have came to that one bad call though, if we had been running the offense effectively throughout the game.

If there were any justice, this should seal the deal for some sort of disciplinary action for that Pac-10 crew. It's their job to put a stop to that kind of garbage.

Every season it seems there's 1 or 2 games where we get screwed by the refs. This game was no different. Key call kills LSU. But in all honesty, had LSU gotten off their a$$es and played football for 60 minutes instead of 1 qtr... that call wouldnt have changed the outcome of the game.
To reward someone for this game changing loss... crowton should have had to walk home alone left to ponder his future at LSU.

YESSS:thumb: That was a dumb call in a key situation, somewhat reminiscent of the celebration penalty calls in the final minutes of a game.

Lacking, of course, the complementary penalty on a Penn State player for pulling an LSU player off of the pile in the next drive.

I don't think there would be any complaining if an LSU player dragged out the end of a play to run time off of the clock by being slow to get off of the opposing player. He was just doing what he needed to do to help his team win, IMO, and it was nothing serious that was going to hurt someone. The referee just probably saw the end of the interaction and responded to Hitt's retataliation - which is typical for PF calls like that. That's just the way football goes sometimes, works for you or against you depending on the game and the situation.
