In analyzing the drops by Byrd, the first one was really not a very good throw and would have been a great catch (the pass thrown high). He could have caught it, but to say he should have caught is overboard. The long pass was a great defensive play when you look at the replay. The defender bashes him on his arm at the last second. Byrd would have caught it otherwise. Would have been one of the catches of the year had he held on to it. Lafell's drop were much worse and disconcerting.
What if the drops are in protest? Alittle far fetched but not unheard of. The Deep one to Byrd was a GREAT play by the defender that was able to get his arm inbetween Byrds and rip it away...so I dont blame anyone on that one!
Anyone who tanks a play out of spite or "in protest" is an ass and needs to be sitting on it. That sort of thing may happen in the pros, but I can't imagine it happening at the college level. Do you think maybe Lee threw a few bad passes to protest the good ones that were purely dropped? I don't. I think every one of the Tigers is doing the best he can on every play. On the other hand, after seeing a lot of bad passes, I can believe that the receiver is SURPRISED to see one he should be able to catch.... :geaux:
Ok,,,,let me say it again,,,,,I thought we would win, I wouldn't have been too suprised had we lost. I'm NOT putting down our team. We CAN NOT WIN EVERY GAME EVERY YEAR!!!! GIve me a frickin BREAK. We NEED A QB. OUR QB's are not very good at this time. I LOVE LSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Want to win. However, we don't have the team to win the SEC, much less the NC. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
A win against the #3 ranked defense in the entire league.. I'm not the only one who thinks are team is pulling it together am I? They played LSU football in the second half and frankly [excuse my language..] it was damn refreshing. We might not be a contender right now.. but we're still a damn strong football team. Who knows how much we'll mature between now and late november.
Curious. Who was it that led you to believe we WOULD win the SEC and NC this year? I know absolutely NOBODY that expected that. Not winning the SEC doesn't signal the end of a "great run". if that were the case, our "great run" would've ended in '02, '04, '05, and '06. When you make up dumb threads, you will get called out. You have to expect this, man.
And by the way...take that "the process" bullshet somewhere else. "The process" don't coach here no more, aight?
Thats what I really wanted to say, but figured this would just turn into another thread where everyone says I am just a Lee hater! I dont think that they would drop the passes out of protest either....but its not impossible if there is something going on in the inside that we dont know. I mean after last year I expected Byrd to be the GO to Guy and that just has not happened, kind of makes you wonder alittle!
Not defending him but I expected us to contend for the SECC, mainly because I didnt see a clear cut winner in the West.
