The point is that they eere both coached well enough to take advantage of the things they did well and play within themselves well enough to be not only effective game managers but QB's with tje ability to win close games when cslled upon. Mauck's TD to Skyler Green to beat Georgia and Flynn's last second game winning TD to beat Auburn. Not discounting whatever influence Gary Crowton may have had on Flynn but how many QB's has Crowton put in the NFl and how many NFL draft picks were coached by Jimbo? The man knows hor to develop quarterbacks.
No question Jimbo has a good track record developing QB’s. But I don’t think thats mutually exclusive with winning championships. I think a lot more goes into winning chips, like having a great defense. In other words, without a Winston or even Manziel, Jimbo isn’t taking A&M to promised land. Sure, Any team that recruits as well as A&M, FSU, LSU, UGA, etc. is always just a great QB and special season away from a championship. But Jimbo won’t be doing that in College Station regularly enough just by developing average QB’s (if ever)
There won't be many average QB'S. Jimbo will sign 5 stars because playing for him could be their ticket to playing on Sundays.
To get back in the game LSU will have to clean house and take a chance trying major upgrade. Right now the program is like a mansion being inhabited by the caretaker. I don't think Baby Huey is a bad coach but I'm afraid quality prospects don't respect him. Let's be honest, he ain't exactly polished.
Fair enough, but still not a believer that Jimbo is bringing any titles to college station. I have hard time believing he will win an SEC West title. For what it’s worth, I’m not believing Coach O will be bringing any titles home to Baton Rouge either. I think both programs will be pretty ho hum
Jimbo would have had a better chance of being a title to Baton Rouge than he will to College Station. They will be vastly improved but the stench of aggieness doesn't wash off that easy.
It's gonna look a lot better than us if I was a betting man. Both Oeaux and jimbo are proven. Just on different ends of the spectrum. The money means nothing. It's about winning. And salaries aren't gonna decrease. A winning coach is going to cost even more later. Shopping at dollar tree will likely prove a huge mistake. I thought we learned this after curley Hallman. Lets put our money where our mouths are. Coach of Year votes in the SEC--Oeaux or Jimbo. Lets go boys. Ill take the overrated guy. Yall can have the underrated 3-21 fella.
