A few games back I wasn't sure we could play with Kentucky and I saw us struggling to become bowl eligible. We have 3 losses all to teams that are ranked, and should finish ranked. Two of which are NC contenders at this point and one is undefeated. We beat "good" Kentucky and Florida teams and a very good Ole Miss team. We stretched a top 4 team taking them into overtime in a game we had opportunity to win- I hate to say "should've "won. We're young and our kids still need to learn to finish but we're awful young and our better days are ahead. It's maddening that Bama snatched one at the end, AGAIN but not only does the road team win more than usual in this series, they threw out a stat about the last 7 OT's going to the road team. I have always said that good coaching wins close games but I don't think we were out-coached cause we controlled most of the game. Even Saban said that in his post-game. Our QB play is definitely affecting our offense but he's not why we lost last night. I was hoping Harris would toss one down field on that single play he went in for. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate a quality visiting poster, Terry. On another note, I'd also like to congratulate TCUTiger. I'm not sure if TCU is his #1 or #2 team but they're sitting pretty right now and put up some points. May be an interesting team to watch in a playoff.
Nice post! Now that I'm sober I agree. For the youth we have I am surprised we are playing better. Still don't like Chavis soft 2 minute defenses tho.
FWIW, we dropped 5 spots in the Coaches poll from #15 to #20. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/rankings/coaches
This is all very fair. After the AU game, no one here could have predicted what a great October we'd have after getting curb-stomped the first game that month. Hopefully, this young team still has the heart to go out and take care of business against Arkansas (maybe in the snow/ice, but certainly in a really cold environment with or without precipitation) and A & M. So far, my gut tells me that this team does have heart and will pick itself up and take care of our last two opponents. A trademark of Miles' teams, moreso than having subpar QB play, is having heart and not giving up on a season, even when the fans have. In short, I think all of us would have been happy to know we'd be 7-3 at this point in the season at the end of the AU game. I feel crushed over the way we lost last night because I was so freakin' euphoric after Yeldon fumbled the ball on the six.
LSU has still only lost to top-10 teams and has beaten one as well. This is a good year of LSU football. Two road wins over beatable teams like A&M and Arkansas and a bowl win and Les has 10 wins in a rebuilding year in the SEC West.
Very good post. The season has been a solid season. LSU has lost to only top ten teams. We have seen improvement from the D and the OL through the last few weeks. The team has made strides. However, I have trouble accepting the Miss St and Bama games. The Miss St game was given away early on. The team was not ready to play. The gameplan sucked. To make it worse Miles stuck with AJ for too long. The Bama game should have been a win. Plain and simple, the kick and then subsequent prevent D caused that game. If LSU plays balls out D, I have no issue with losing.
