    Not elite?

If Scott and Jefferson didn't get hurt, and if Peterson wasn't cramping when Julio did his catch-n-run, the game may have ended very differently. If you had beaten the #2 (BCS) team, were in the driver's seat to the SECCG with only one loss (10 points to the #1 team in the country), you'd probably be in the top 3-5 right now.

    Not elite? Really?

    I disagree.

This is how most of us see our team. A few different breaks and this game possibly turns out different. Elite teams, that is what happens, a wrong bounce of the ball, a bad call, a key injury and the outcome can change on you. I think both teams played an elite game, and one had some bad breaks.

This is money right here, dude. Money.

I think a lot of us tend to be hard on LSU due to our lack of blowouts this year. But really, if you conduct a thorough survey of CFB this year, there really aren't any teams that blow teams out week-in and week-out. It really hasn't been the trend at all in recent years (save UF the second half of last season). The days of teams coasting into the NC game averaging over 30pts margin of victory are long gone. There's so much parity in CFB now that it ain't funny. It's resembling the NFL a lot more these days in that regard.

Thus the difference between elite and no-elite teams.

Elite is not a status you achieve or lose in 1 or 2 seasons. It is something that takes time, and I would say our body of work over the past decade has us at ELITE.:geaux: :LSU231:

I think LSU wins 40% percent of the time against Bama if that game was played 10 times, and that's considering playing at your stadium with crooked refs (which everyone should've seen coming). So, I don't think Bama is any better of a team than LSU this year, but I wouldn't call Bama elite either.

What hurts is that the Florida and Bama games were very much winnable and those teams are not that much better than LSU.

And I will agree with Legacy. LSU is and shall remain an elite team.

seems like much of this is semantics. i define "elite" as being one of the best teams. that # many be different every year but someone has to be elite. i think lsu is equal to bama and perhaps a notch under uf. this year there are about 8 elite teams and lsu is in that group.

no if you want to compare to other years that is a different story, but to do that you still have to wait until the end of the season.
