Coach Miles: 2005 Quarterback: Redshirt Sophomore Proven DC- 11-2 Peach Bowl 2006 Quarterback: Redshirt Junior Proven DC-11-2 BCS Sugar Bowl 2007 Quarterback: Redshirt Senior Proven DC- 12-2 SEC Champ, National Champ 2008 Quarterback: Redshirt Freshman/True Freshman Unproven DC- 8-5 Peach Bowl 2009 Quarterback: Sophomore Proven DC- 7-2 so far. Is it a coincidence that Les Miles had his worst season to date with LSU with Freshmen quarterbacks, and unproven DC. I still say this is an elite team.
Thanks for an interesting correlation. We are an elite program and will continue to be so, but no team is an “elite tem” every year. This year, the elite are FL, AL and TX. LSU currently heads up a field of good teams. See… Scout.com: CFN Ranking Of Every Team - Week 10 I'm excited about a strong finish and this will be a VERY GOOD TEAM representing an elite program. Your correlation makes me think about the wisdom of looking for a new OC which some have suggested. We might just want to keep our coaching staff in tact next year. It sure would be interesting taking your criteria (experienced QB and coaching continuity) and looking at other successful programs.
I was talking to my best friend yesterday about if Crowton would be back, and we came to the conclusion that we think he should be back, reason being is that Jefferson has shown alot of progress, and i don't think it would be beneficial for him if he had to learn a new system. It seems like it has taken Jefferson a while to learn this system and it would be a shamed for him to have to start from scratch especially with the progress we have seen from him.
I think JJ is a bit above average - the kid does not lose games for us, but no he is not elite. However, LSU rarely plays great with "elite" QBs. I think the area that hurt us the most was not having an "elite" DLineman. That is something I am certainly not used to. Seems like so many things dominoed from that.
I agree with that, can it be contributed to the fact that we have a new Dline coach, because I think the talent is there. Nevis flashes the elite talent every now and then.
Bingo. Drake Nevis has played well this year, but we have gotten nothing from our ends. And if you want to play that 3-5-3 or 3-4 hybrid, you really need a huge run stuffing defensive tackle, and we just don't have that. When we were in 4-3, we did ok, but still not good enough.
Oh your talking about the fact that Rahim Alem ran straight up field instead of containing his end when Ingram ran to that side. Ive never seen a team be so successful running an off tackle play against a good defensive before.
