I think this team will take the disappointment in losing the Bama game and rebound with a sound thrashing of LaTech, Ole Miss, and Ark. Then I pitty the fools who we play in a bowl. Whether it be the Capital One Bowl, Chick Filet, or a BCS Bowl we are going to beat the pants off of them. Finishing this season with an 11-2 mark with losses to 2 of the top teams in the country. I would classify that as elite. Also, a much better year than any of us had predicted. None of us really thought we had a chance at the SECCG and BCSNCG until the past couple of weeks, so I am ok with those goals being done with. It is now time for this team to pull itself off the mat, strap on its boots, and stomp through the shyt we have to get through to prove we are one of the best. Next year we will be a heavy favorite and a serious contendor for the MNC. This will also be the expectations for most LSU fans, and I don't see this team letting us down. We may not make it, but we will be in it to the end.:geaux: :LSU231: I for one am very proud of the way we played Saturday, we didn't quit, we fought hard, and we were in it till the end. As stated before "We played football". When 2 of the best defenses match up in the same game, offenses are not going to be much of a factor. One bad play, that had Peterson be in, decided the game, but wouldn't have happened had he been in the game is nothing to be ashamed or upset about. I like our chances for the rest of the year and beyond. :geauxtige:tigereye: :milesmic:
Holy crap, what is Charles Alexander going to do. He is LSU Institutionalized. He is going to be like the Bird Guy on Shawshank Redemption.
i was just thinking about how much this LSU team has improved since the first game of the season. WOW...and they're still getting better. Whoever we play in a bowl game better watch out...especially with LSU's bowl record under Miles.
Not only that but they aren't that arrogant yet. It wasn't that long ago when they were in their dark ages. Their program was so bad that they sold their souls to the devil and Satan arrived! This year has been a little frustrating yes, but like I've always said is that if you make a January Bowl game its been a successful year. I would also call Dec 31, January btw! I'm happy we aren't Florida State, Imagine what those fans go through every year!
Fair point. 10 wins in any year is a resounding success. However, if a NC is the ultimate goal, 2 losses will rarely put you in the BCS title game. Before '07, I would've said it was impossible, but that year it was an anomaly and I'll doubt we'll see that again any time soon, if ever.
...and we are #8 in BCS with a lot of football left for LSU and teams ahead of them. still end up in top 5 or higher if we win out!
Thanks for posting the link to the article. Good, good stuff. I cannot tell you how much I love this team...and this season, all of its ups and downs and how our guys are learning from it, is going to help us win championships in the next few years.
A month ago I thought we belonged somewhere around #12-14. Now I do believe we are in the Top 5 and our play has reflected that. If we can stay on this trajectory, I will be most pleased with this season. Finishing strong and paying back ole ms and arkie are very important to me. I think the coaches(and for the notable haters, that includes Miles) have done a tremendous job of developing and protecting our players in a year that everyone considered would be challenging. Looking back on Florida and bama, I think we could have won those games, if, if, if... Plenty of what ifs, but talent, effort and heart are not included in that. Rivals can say what they like about their teams or ours. LSU isn't going anywhere.
Very well said. You are correct we aren't going anywhere. At the beginning of this season I expected us to be a 9-10 win team, well that is where we are. This team, will be the front runner next yr and the following. I also, didn't think there would be any undefeated teams in the SEC this yr, and I was wrong, but did think there would be several teams bunched up in the middle with 8 or so wins. Well, that is what might end up happening. The SEC looks like it might put anywhere from 9-11 teams in bowls this year, with the upper tier being perfect at the end of the regular season, LSU being alone, then followed by a couple of 8 win teams, 7 win teams, and 6 win teams. The SEC, I still contend, isn't really down, but the middle teams are evening the playing field. The SEC will be harder and harder to stay in the hunt for the MNC on a yearly basis. If the SEC continues to have a couple of 1 -2 loss teams at the top with bunch of 3-4 loss teams as the next level, putting 9-10 teams in bowls every yr, the SEC will not only continue to be the best conference there is, it will be even harder to come out of it. Imagine having to win every year against 7-8 bowl bound teams, with 7 or more wins. Imagine a conference with 5-6 ranked teams every year beating each other up to reach the top. My point is that I don't see anyone, especially Bama and UF, having the total domination, that has been enjoyed by these 2 teams over the past 2 yrs, in the future. The good news is that LSU will be one of the top 1-3 teams in the conference for some time, and I am happy to be along for the continued ride. :geaux: :LSU231:
