Best we can hope for now is to have a couple of big wins, hopefully against ATL (but I doubt it) and play the role of spoiler, then regroup for next year in we get our coach back. Not blaming this game on the officials by ANY means, but the is the 2nd game this year that Goodell's replacement officials cost us a TD. The first was the phantom PI on Harper in the end zone of the Wash. game and today was the overturn of Pierre Thomas' TD that was clearly a TD. As sorry as our D and O-line is, we can't overcome all of that, plus Goodell's vendetta. We should also start keeping an eye out for talent that can execute Spagnolo's scheme because the guys we have now ain't cutting it. I'm not giving up on this team for good, but as far as being the first NFL team to host a Super Bowl, it ain't happening. So, to recap: 1) Regroup 2) get our coach back 3) find some defensive players, and 4) come back strong next year.
The really sad thing about this start is that we expected an us-against-the-world mentality, and that usually translates to guys playing with extreme passion and intensity. But these efforts have been anything but.
Boy, with the exception of a certain inept quarterback, it is familiar isn't it? Especially the opening drive...zip, zip, zip, down the field, we're thinking, 'they're ready to go today'....only to watch them stink up the joint for the rest of the day. Haslett's offenses were great for that.
Well, I was actually thinking of that administration and the dozen before it. Sean Payton is the glue that is missing right now. The team has no cohesiveness.
This team is missing more than Payton. It's two years away from contending again. The defense sucks, Ingram was not worth a 1st round pick, etc.
Not sure I agree with 2 years away from contending again. I do think if Payton was on the sidelines, they woud have won today's game. What really get me is how decent the defense looked for 2.5 Q today, then just absolutely collapsed after the 90 yard TD run.
Man I'm glad someone else thinks this. That Ingram pick was about as dumb as dumb gets. You don't trade up to take a running back in the first round. Especially when you have guys that are undrafted that have been huge parts of the offense. Ridiculous. The Saints have really screwed the pooch when it comes to draft picks. There are some good ones, Colston, Graham, Bushrod. As far as free agency they have done awesome. I hope they lose a bunch of games and get the number 1 overall pick. But knowing them, they will probably take Monte Ball or something stupid like that. Some fat USC lineman that sucks.
