just got back home from watching the game and after reading the board I have a few observations.

    1. I don't think Urban was classless tonight. Some say "running up the score" and "Throwing up 3 scores is classless"... but in all reality, its up to our D to stop them. There wouldn't be blow outs if the defense played the right way. You don't kick a dog when its down, but you don't exactly f--- around with it till it bites you either.

    2. I never like the idea of the Co-DC's. Just look at their pedigree...

    Bradley Dale Peveto:

1987 Trinity Valley Community College (secondary)
1988-91 Stephen F. Austin (defensive line, linebacker, secondary, special teams coordinator)
1992-93 Southern Miss (outside linebackers, special teams coordinator)
1994-95 Arkansas (linebackers, special teams coordinator)
1996-98 Northwestern (La.) State (defensive coordinator, linebackers)
    1999-2002 Houston (secondary/co-defensive coordinator)

2003-04 Middle Tennessee (defensive coordinator, secondary, linebackers)
2003 -- Defense averaged giving up 31.0 PPG, gave up 170 YPG Rushing, and 251 YPG Passing, 451 YPG total offense... thats ridiculous.
2004 -- Defense averaged giving up 26.6 PPG, gave up 138 YPG Rushing, 273 YPG Passing for 411 YPG total offense... better but still horrible.

He averaged 29 sacks per season in '03 and '04.

He gave up 375 pts in '03 and 293 pts in '04 with the most pts scored per quarter occurring in the 2nd quarter both years, followed by the 3rd quarter.

In '03 Missouri, Temple, Utah State, and ULL scored over 40 pts. on his MTS defense, with ULL scoring 57 @ MTS.

In '04 Florida *** and New Mexico State both scored over 40 pts. (Florida scored 52-16 @ Gainesville )

2002 Houston Co/DC - Gave up 32.8 PPG, 134 YPG Rushing, 269.3 YPG Passing, 403 YPG Total Offense.

Recorded 19 sacks for the season.

Gave up 393 pts most coming in the 2nd quarter, followed by the 4th edging 3rd quarter by 5 pts.

Gave up 41 to Texas, 51 to UAB, 54 to East Carolina, 47 to Cincy,

2001 Houston Co/DC - Gave up 39.3 PPG, 206 YPG Rushing, 231 YPG Passing, 438 YPG Total offense.

    Recorded 25 sacks

Gave up 354 pts, most being given up in the 2nd Quarter, followed by a landslide by 4th quarter.

Gave up 53 to Texas, 52 to Memphis, 58 to Southern Miss, 45 to South Florida, 43 to UAB.

    2000 Houston Co/DC - Gave up 29.4 PPG, 120 YPGR, 219 YPGP, 340 YPGT

    Recorded 29 sacks.

Gave up 235 pts. most being given up in the 4th Quarter, followed by 2nd quarter.

Gave up 62 pts to East Carolina on road, 41 to Tulane, 48 to Cincy, 48 to Texas.

Doug Mallory - Well lets just say the only DC experience he has had is at Western Kentucky back in '92 and '93. Other then that its all secondary, which when I looked at the stats averaged giving up about 250 a game with good amount of INTs.

This is not the pedigree i want in a DC at one of the top football programs in America.

    3. Jarrett Lee is not the answer, he may develop into a great LSU QB, but I don't see him being a 4 year starter. I think he needs quite a bit more development before he can fully lead this offense and use it to its potential (and that may never happen).

    4. BLITZ TEBOW GDMMIT! HIT HIM IN THE MOUTH! DON'T SHADOW HIM ON OPTIONS... and then when he pitches try and catch the 10.02 speed RB. HIT HIM!

    5. STOP CALLING THE WR SCREEN SO GD MUCH! IT'S PREDICTABLE NOW. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR DOWN 3 SCORES ON THE ROAD...

That's all for now, but I hope we improve a lot quickly... as UGA is coming up, bright spot is Peveto coached against them a few times and didn't give up more then 30 or so.

    1. Yes it was classless.

    2. You don't like the "idea" of Co-DCs. Fine...But you left off their resumes: LSU DB & LB coordinator(s) when LSU won the National Championship in 2007. Integral part of LSU's Defensive coaching staff that finished #3 Nationally in Total Defense in 3 consecutive seasons: 2005, 2006 & 2007.

    3. Jarrett Lee is the best Freshman QB so far that LSU has had since Tommy Hodson, better than Herb Tyler at this point IMO.

    4. What good is going blitz happy when Tebow dumps off a 2-3 yard pass in under 2 seconds? Can you not see the little yellow flags a flyin' and LSU being called for a ton of late hits, especially in Gainesville?

I agree TOTALLY with this. Our defense has unbelievable athletes. What I have noticed all season is...they are living on talent alone. The co-defensive coordinator is a bad idea any way you slice it.

You seem to forget that they had Bo holding their hands and telling them what to do. This year it's all them and the results are horrible thus far. LSU may have some new starters but has waaaay too much talent to get bitch slapped like they were tonight.

Bo's gameplans sucked last year from the Tulane game until Ohio State. He wasn't perfect, either. These guys have even worse gameplans. If we continue to have such problems on defense, I do feel that an experienced DC will be hired for next year. Miles is a nice guy, but he wants to win, too.

Oh, and I can't stand Urban Meyer, but it was our job to stop them, and we didn't--so congratulations, Florida, on your 51 points.

Sorry folks, but everyone shoulders the blame in a loss like this. We'll find out what character our team has from here. Most of us never imagined we'd go undefeated this year but I didn't think we'd lose to UF by 30. If it had been a close game we'd all feel bad about it but we'd find some positives to pull from the game. We'll be back, I have faith in this team. And for the record, even if we pitch shut-outs the rest of the way, I don't like the idea of co-defensive coordinators.

Not sure how anyone can say Urban Meyer was classless......LSU needed it's defense to step up and stop Florida and they did not. I would be pissed if Les Miles ever turned it off with 10 minutes to go in the 4th, especially against a team like Florida. Bottom line is LSU got schooled last night - Florida exploited the defensive weaknesses we all saw after the MSU game, and Lee showed he is not quite ready to carry the team in a hostile environment when trailing big. This loss sucks, but life goes on. As Istslsu-xyz pointed out in another thread, there is a lot of football left to play this year....LSU controls its own destiny.

If Meyer was classless last night, then Les Miles was classless last year when we embarrassed the crap outta Va Tech, beating them like a red-headed stepchild for that entire game.

If we get our act together and could hand a beating like that to Florida in Tiger Stadium next year, then I don't think anyone here would be calling Miles classless. We'd enjoy it.

Florida has had this game circled since last year, folks. That game (which was an epic battle) ripped their hearts out.
